Historia
Aged just seven, Suzanne Heywood set sail with her parents and brother on a three-year voyage around the world. What followed turned instead into a decade-long way of life, through storms, shipwrecks, reefs and isolation, with little formal schooling. No one else knew where they were most of the time and no state showed any interest in what was happening to the children. Suzanne fought her parents, longing to return to England and to education and stability. This memoir covers her astonishing upbringing.

I’d like to hug the Author
Revisado: 08-05-24
Home with Covid, I’ve been allowed to listen to this book nonstop. If I’d not been confined, this story would have had me sneaking off to listen every chance I got. Thank you to the Author for her opening the world of not only sailing, but of parents of the 70’s & 80’s who never considered how their actions could affect a child’s world. The Authors description of sailing, brought back memories of my own on a C&C 42’, though only on the Great Lakes USA. There are children worldwide, who are thrust into adulthood prematurely due to poor parenting, absent parents. I wanted to hug the children in this book and provide some of the love, affection, and encouragement they were deprived of.
Ms Heywood, thank you for sharing, and you are wonderful.

Historia
From the author of Seed of Israel: DNA Guide to Tracing Your Jewish Ancestry comes this great dive into the history of Ashkenazi Jews. While controversial debates spark disagreements on the crystallization of this Jewish Diaspora, modern genetic studies and personal DNA samples finally conclude the Levantine Middle Eastern and Mediterranean roots of Ashkenazi ancestry: Judean people from the Holy Land that journeyed across the Mediterranean to the bottleneck of Europe.

Unable to continue

This is a great topic, with a horrific narrator who struggles with pronunciation. Would it have been better with acoustics that don’t sound like he is recording in his bathroom or garage? Yes. Maybe. But the stumbling over words and topics through the second chapter (hoping it would improve) has me giving up.
Don’t waste your credit and more importantly your time.

Historia
Over two grim nights in Los Angeles, the young followers of Charles Manson murdered seven people, including the actress Sharon Tate, then eight months pregnant. With no mercy and seemingly no motive, the Manson Family followed their leader's every order. Twenty years ago, when journalist Tom O'Neill was reporting a magazine piece about the murders, he worried there was nothing new to say. Then he unearthed shocking evidence of a cover-up behind the "official" story, including police carelessness, legal misconduct, and potential surveillance by intelligence agents.

I finally get it
Revisado: 02-04-23
Not really sure how I stumbled across this book, and I can honestly say the Manson Family wasn’t anything I ever actively followed.
This book had me hooked from the start. As obsessed as Mr. O’Neill became, I felt as though I was also. The years of dedication, research, and sacrifice for this story are commendable.
Thank you Mr. O’Neill for creating a flow, that I did understand and couldn’t get enough of.
You are appreciated.
