Historia
Epic in scope, Macrolife opens in the year 2021. The Bulero family owns one of Earth's richest corporations. As the Buleros gather for a reunion at the family mansion, an industrial accident plunges the corporation into crisis, which eventually brings the world around them to the brink of disaster. Vilified, the Buleros flee to a space colony where young Richard Bulero gradually realizes that the only hope for humanity lies in macrolife - mobile, self-reproducing space habitats.

Excruciatingly ... good
Revisado: 06-24-15
What made the experience of listening to Macrolife the most enjoyable?
Several days after finishing it, it started to gel.
What other book might you compare Macrolife to and why?
1961 Dandridge Cole Space World Magazine articles entitled "Macro-life". They made the points that this puts a story around, kinda like the tomes you have to read to make flesh of e-mc2
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Seems there were two readers, but they were very close to each other... both seemed to be crying. That's a lot of hours of pleading, whining. But in the end the story comes through and it all works.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Macro-life: Longer than Lord of the Rings, no flashy action but far more epic
Any additional comments?
At first you may think you're channeling Ayn Rand via the stiff characterizations from The Roads Must Roll era Heinlein, and then it takes off like Methuselahs Children or Time For The Stars. And then... and then...
If you get part way in and feel it's just too thick and lifeless, hang on just past your wits end. It's worth it. It just needs to ferment in your brain after the reading is done.

Historia
A journey of 167,000 lights years begins with...a bar of soap? Fasten your zero gravity restraints for Robert Heinlein's novel of intergalactic adventure, a story that carries teenager Clifford "Kip" Russell from his job as soda jerk to space-suit winner to alien abductee! Along the way Kip is joined by a pint-sized genius named Peewee and an empathetic alien creature known as "the Mother Thing."

this is excelent. worth your time

What did you love best about Have Space Suit, Will Travel?
I have an 8 year old and we wanted something fun for long drives. We chose the Heinlein youth stories and this one first because of the full cast. This was exactly the right choice. There are definitely some of your fathers and grandfathers American things in the beginning but they allowed us some fun times of pausing and explaining... which he found neat. But the story itself is fun and exciting and engrossing and the full cast made it shine. Then there is the big switch from action adventure to big (really big) picture. Awesome. I had never read this when I was young because the title was silly. Wow, don't let yourself be pushed away by the title. This is a clear winner and even though we have others now that we truly love (Podkayne and Rolliing Stones are hits we've done twice so far with no loss of enjoyment and Rocketship Galileo worked once) my son requests this one over and over. Four times through it still holds up. Do it.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Have Space Suit, Will Travel?
Peewee's courage and Kip's logic during the long walk to the station. And the court case after the "switch"
Which character – as performed by Will McAuliffe and the Full Cast Family – was your favorite?
Peewee and Kip. Great performances of solid characters - solid role models by the way. We did think the Motherthing effect was odd the first couple of times they did it but it was much less of an issue than some reviewed say.. it fit her.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
This should not be ruined by a two hour movie. No, unabridged is the only way to do this well. The full cast audio went as far as it should ever be done outside of a book that is read.
Any additional comments?
If you have a kid who hasn't yet gone fully jaded by life and some long drives ahead, do this one. I found out that my kid was still more of a wide-eyed kid than I'd thought he was. Thank you Full Cast and RAH, you done well.
