So.... it started off better than it ended... I have to agree with a lot of the other reviews... the heroine is an idiot. She’s super immature and was so irrational toward her bar that she runs. If she’s smart enough to own and run a business then she SHOULD be smart enough to know it’s a bad investment and that the way she bought it was shady. Who buys a building for $50k?????? Makes me think this author is either very young or didn’t do any research. I finished the story but I doubt I’ll listen to this author again. Super cheesy, predictable and very vanilla... shouldn’t have wasted a credit on this

I made it until the last 30 min

Ok... so I LOVE contemporary RH. Not that I don’t love paranormal, but it’s really hard to find books out there where they aren’t in some magical land learning new abilities. So I was excited to try this one out. It wasn’t action packed, the whole book is basically dialogue and some flashbacks. I did like how the author established their relationship. Overall, I stayed interested until I just HAD to stop and sorry if I sound mad going forward, I am because I didn’t finish.

**SPOILERS POSSIBLE GOING FORWARD**

Here are my problems:

1) How old is Frankie? For f’s sake.... when she gets cut off from “Momma”, she has to get told that if you don’t pay your bills on time she gets a late fee??? The author implies that they are all almost 30. Even Bryce who’s supposedly all spoiled and not grown up yet can manage to do things on his own. It’s like the author couldn’t decide if she wanted Frankie to be strong and independent or if she needed rescuing by the guys.

2) Frankie’s Reactions to what people said weren’t clear and consistent. Let me explain, sometimes on if the boys would say something totally benign and then she would get all angry and then they would dig themselves deeper into the hole which should have made her MORE angry but she doesn’t, she understands? The boys personalities were consistent, Frankie was all over the place.

And finally why I stopped listening:

3) Lucas and Frankie’s one on one scene. I totally understand why Lucas didn’t boink her after the run in with momma... but I’ve been in a relationship where I would take the step to instigate sex and get repeatedly turned down. It’s a freaking power play by the man and it made me so angry to watch Lucas do that to her. The constant pulling away, pulling back from a kiss until HE’s ready, pushing her away, telling her “well maybe we shouldn’t keep this up”. It’s like the author wanted him to be the broken one that needed to be sure this would last but she didn’t get around to illustrating that and just made him look like a jerk by basically forcing her to beg. Even when they FINALLY started to get going, he pulled back with the teasing. And the worst part is after he did it, he literally commented about it like “let’s analyze why I’m doing this or at least let me explain it”.... I got mad. Like REALLY mad. It’s a way that a partner can manipulate the other one in the relationship. I personally experienced it for a year before I got out and it took me YEARS...like 15 YEARS to finally be comfortable with instigating sex. I was that afraid of rejection....

Also, who the hell still calls her mom “momma” when you’re 30?

Don’t bother with this story. Frankie was more mature in the flashbacks than she is while becoming a DOCTOR.

I loved this story so much!!! So much happened throughout this story with an amazing “whodunit” twist at the end.

Also, the last minute of the book just had me in tears and I NEVER cry at books... le sigh.... I want a Max

I just have to say, whomever commented that Ethan’s Scottish accent was horrible was just being ridiculous. I’ve listened to Will Watt in a few stories and he is phenomenal at different accents in Europe. He’s also great at an American accent (he’s English I believe). The only thing he’s awful at is a Southern American accent.

That being said, I really loved this story. It jumped around to different scenes in within some of the chapters and didn’t give you any clue until a min or 2 in so I was left rewinding a few times to figure out what I missed.

The love story of this was lovely and both characters were extremely like able. Loved it!

Decent second book

I have an hour and a half left of this book and this one is a lot slower without a lot of storyline progress. Not sure if I’ll continue with the series. Tori is really irritating by the end. She lets Dane walk all over her. Like I feel like he has potential but this author took him a bit to far and just made him out right unlikeable. I wish he had some sort of regret/uncertainty in his actions. And the rest of the boys don’t really stand up to him. They calmly chastise him and then on the side tell her, “oh don’t worry, he’ll come around”... so many eye rolls and if she’s so amazing, she needs to put Dane in his place and he needs to freaking apologize and MEAN it... still hoping for that by the end of this book. If not, I REALLY won’t continue.

Can you tell I’m irritated with her? She is the cause of the angst I’m feeling...

I binged this entire series the day it was available and it took me 3 days. It was so heart warming and I loved how the story kept flowing. It kept me hooked the entire time. I’ll definitely listen to this again in a few mi this I think. Well done to the author and narrators!

I’m not sure if this is really a billy romance, maybe half yes half no? Narration was on point! This story was so much more than I thought it was going to be and what a cliffhanger!! I’m going to go read the next two books because I can’t wait for it to come out on audible. Super happy I found it and it’s so worth the credit especially if you love RH dark bully romance. On par with Filthy Rich Boys in my opinion.

Good Grief

I’m sorry....this is just AWFUL... it’s like listening to the cheesiest porn on repeat. “Give it to me” “Fill me up” and everything is “sticky and hot”. That’s the only way anything is described.

Spoiler alert:

He’s her freaking “headmaster” and the culmination has him kissing her in front of the whole school and EVERYONE is ok with it? And then to send them off to Harvard.. give me a break. The eye rolls were happening very often and I couldn’t bring myself to listen to the 2nd and 3rd stories.

Please don’t waste money or a credit on this. TRUST me, it’s terrible.

Narration was decent considering what they had to work with so at least there’s that but that’s not thanks to this author.

The feels are strong with this one!

I had absolutely NO COMPLAINTS about this story... I loved everything about it. I laughed out loud at times, I choked up at times, and I had to fan my face at times to calm my thumping heart. Corinne Michaels is really so so talented at bringing her characters to life. On to her next book!!
