Historia
John Ridley, the best-selling author of The Drift, is renowned for his gritty, violent tales and their razor-sharp dialogue. This foray into science fiction is an explosive thriller. In the near future, superheroes are very real. But so are supervillains. When San Francisco is toasted during a superbeing clash, America has had enough. All metanormals must leave the country, or face extermination at the hands of an elite new law enforcement branch.

A premise with so much potential... wasted
Revisado: 04-11-18
So I picked up this book 1. because of the promise of its premise and 2. in spite of all the lackluster reviews. In hindsight I should have heeded the other reviews.
The story and characters are static and flat. No one learns, changes, grows, or otherwise evolves beyond their original prejudices or bigotry toward the other side. I don’t expect each side of the normal vs. super powered “conflict” to each disarm, hug, and go out for drinks by the end. But the utter intransigence and repetitive drumming of “I hate you for *insert motive here!*” from both the major protagonist and antagonist wears thin ridiculously fast!
I also don’t know who/how this recording was mastered but come on! I’m no audio engineer but I’ve never listened to another audiobook with such low rent, bush league audio quality! Unless you’re into the sound of lip smacking, swallowing, breathing, and long pauses between chapters as to double check that the playback is still going, skip this one entirely.

Historia
Denis Leary refutes the current highly partisan Right Wing Nutjob versus Left Wing Snowflake approach to American politics - where you're either one or the other, with no gray areas in between. Leading a new protest movement called Gray Lives Matter, he takes equal opportunity aim at the screaming heads we see arguing every night on CNN (the Clinton News Network) and Fox's Fair and Balanced Republican Report.

Spectacular second offering!
Revisado: 11-08-17
Denis Leary’s second literary effort (not counting Suck on This Year!) is just as insightful and hilarious as his first! Amazing how he can be just as funny putting forth essentially the opposite idea of Why We Suck! Denis is a far too underrated comedy genius!
