Historia
Atticus O'Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he's twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer.

feels very generic.
Revisado: 02-18-23
Dresden fans immediately will pick up on many similarities.
the book doesn't have anything that makes it stand out. it feels like something a horny young adult would write, wanting to bang gods and such and such. The story is incredibly straight forward, lacking a more than the basic narrative layer plus another.

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

Historia
After forming a coalition of human resistance against the enemy invasion, Dalinar Kholin and his Knights Radiant have spent a year fighting a protracted, brutal war. Neither side has gained an advantage, and the threat of a betrayal by Dalinar’s crafty ally Taravangian looms over every strategic move. Now, as new technological discoveries by Navani Kholin’s scholars begin to change the face of the war, the enemy prepares a bold and dangerous operation. The arms race that follows will challenge the very core of the Radiant ideals.

it delivered.
Revisado: 12-19-20
I was happy about Kaladin's arc in this book, same with Venli's. Shallan's arc and writing felt a bit lackluster, and might've been better for the next book instead of this one, as it felt a bit shadowed. I also found parts with Shallan mildly overbearing at times, though it was the same with parts of Kaladin's arc as well.
this book comes in more strong on the melancholy side when compared to the previous entries, and I've seen many negative reviews treat it as a negative—it is subjective—but I found that it brought the book to a very uplifting ending once all the plot points were drawn to their logical conclusions.
This book sets up the next book as even a bigger promise, it also sets up the time scale to the ending. So, like it or not, the next book or books are going to pick up speed considerably. I think that's only a good thing, taken that this book was almost as slow as Way of Kings was at the start.

Strong book.
Revisado: 11-28-20
As always, Jim delivers with a strong hook and a stronger pull into the story. As always, it's a rush, though I feel like the middle is just a tad bit weaker in this book. However, the ride is worth it!

Middle is a slog, ending is underwhelming
Revisado: 10-09-20
Needs revision. It starts well, but come middle the book turns into a slog. It picks up after 10 hours, but then you're served with 5 hours of build up to an ending that felt like a cop-out.
I can't recommend this book. The narrator's way of doing shouts is immersion breaking, which is wheezing them out like an asthmatic. The story doesn't pay off when compared to the investment required to finish the book.

Historia
Harry Dresden, Chicago's only practicing professional wizard, should be happy that business is pretty good for a change. But he also knows that whenever things are going good, the only way left for them to go is bad. Way bad. Recent examples: A duel with the lethal champion of the Red Court, who must kill Harry to end the war between vampires and wizards...Hit men using Harry for target practice...The missing Shroud of Turin - and the possible involvement of Chicago's most feared mob boss.

Historia
Despite his youth, Declan Idrys knows of the evils of the world. He knows of the bastards and brigands who plague the King's lands, of the monsters skulking in the wooded depths of the realm. Together with his companion, Ryn - a beast of rather peculiar talent - he has spent the last decade of his life beneath the bloody banners of a half-dozen mercenary guilds, hunting precisely such festering wickedness within the borders of Viridian.

Characters of this book are fun. It's a journey story, largely. It has a good bit of world as well as character building, and you'll find that each has character.
