Historia
George Mitchell knows how to bring peace to troubled regions. He was the primary architect of the 1998 Good Friday Agreement for peace in Northern Ireland. But when he served as US special envoy for Middle East peace from 2009 to 2011 - working to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict - diplomacy did not prevail. Now, for the first time, Mitchell offers his insider account of how the Israelis and the Palestinians have progressed (and regressed) in their negotiations through the years.

Excellent learning experience of a complex problem

Excellent discussion of history and the nuance of the issues that prevents negotiation and peace between Palestinians and Israelis. George Mitchell provides some interesting suggestions for solutions to the security, borders, refugee and settlements in the West Bank issues that form the core of a peace plan. The obstacles seem insurmountable but Mitchell gives us hope that peace is possible.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Finest Memoir I have read to date
Revisado: 12-13-16
What did you love best about Born a Crime?
This is one of the finest memoirs that I have read in recent years. Trevor brings it alive with his various accents and in-depth knowledge about the culture and race conflicts systemic in South Africa. It is love story for his mother - an amazing strong, intelligent woman that gave Trevor the underpinnings to be the talented multifaceted man that he has grown to be. The story is both tragic, funny and heart felt and the Trevor's story telling ability bar none better than anything that you have ever experienced. The book requires two readings to fully absorb all the depth and wisdom about living a true and honest life.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Trevor is my favorite and his mother. What a loving sweet connection of wits, humor, intelligence and love.
What about Trevor Noah’s performance did you like?
I loved Trevor's language skills for the various languages - multiple African dialects, English, Afrikaner, German. He would switch among these and through these languages one experiences the truth behind the different cultures.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The ending after his mother was shot. Also getting thrown out of the car, in the jail and prison after stealing the car. Sparing matches with his mother.
Any additional comments?
This should be required reading for anyone who wants to understand racial politics, and systematic exploitation before and post apartheid.

Fatal attraction set in Acadia National Park
Revisado: 07-07-16
Nevada Barr channels the dark side of revenge and bitterness with an evil twin. Fun read but rather far fetched in plot and character development. Could have had more references to Acadia and Mt Desert Island. Would recommend it for a light summer read. Barbara, Swarthmore, PA
