Historia
Katherine Nichols knew she’d had too many drinks, but they were only going a short distance. “There’s no traffic anyway,” Eve had pointed out. And they'd had such a great night out, the two of them. Even now, driving them home and knowing she shouldn’t, seemed almost mischievous. All part of the fun. Not anymore.

Worst audio book EVER!!!
Revisado: 10-20-19
The story was incredibly stupid and the narrator's voice was like nails on a chalkboard. I haven't asked for a refund before but I will be on this one. I couldn't struggle through even 3 chapters. AWFUL. Anyone who enjoys this book is not into stories that are layered. It was like listening to a soap opera -- predictable and stupid. A waste of the 45 mins I gave this book.

Not author reading this one!? Beyond disappointed
Revisado: 02-08-19
I ordered this book thinking the author was reading her own story as in her first book - which I loved and loved her reading it especially. WHY would she have someone else read this??? Plus an author that sounds well past middle age is reading it. Does not work. Made this whole thing boring. Couldn’t get past opening chapters.
This is the first time I’ll be asking for an Audible refund after many years as a subscriber.

Most pathetic/clueless female character ever.
Revisado: 10-12-13
What would have made Me Before You better?
A rewrite with a new female lead not written to be so lame and pathetic.
What was most disappointing about Jojo Moyes’s story?
The complete lack of any backbone or intelligence of the lead character, Louisa. How readers (or listeners) can like this book with such a disappointing character is beyond me. The most obvious things she can't figure out, anticipate or wrap her head around? Please. And the description of the book and some reviewers comment on how close her family is. All that was mentioned is how often her family makes fun of her, calls her stupid and has absolutely no expectations of her beyond getting a new job at a cafe, if she's lucky. In my world, that's not a close or supportive family. I feel like the author expects readers themselves to be a bit clueless to accept anything in this story.
Would you listen to another book narrated by the narrators?
Maybe. She wasn't great, but she didn't make the story any worse, that's for sure.
Any additional comments?
Don't waste a credit or your $. There are SO many better stories out there!!! If a tear jerker is what you're after, listen to something beautiful like The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay - an amazing story that will make your heart break at times.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

The best way I can describe the writing in this book, is that someone socially awkward wrote what he thought was "cool" dialogue amongst his characters. His idea of "flirty" banter with characters uttering phrases like "don't knock it 'till you try it" and all sorts of lame sexual innuendo got old. How quickly everyone in the building became friends was a stretch, so coupled with the dialogue, there's a lot of suspension of disbelief needed of the listener. It wasn't a terrible listen (thankfully one of my favorite narrators is the voice of this book), but the story could have been better - in the blink of an eye, the action starts, but at 3/4 of the way through the book, so felt like the author either took too much time at the beginning or was rushing to get to his conclusion. Honestly, I'm shocked by how many people gave this book rave reviews.

Historia
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

A well-written twist - much better than I expected
Revisado: 08-31-13

I almost stopped listening early on - the quizzes that the female narrator reads through painfully slowly are so annoying. If I was reading the book I would have skipped over them (the female character of the book, Amy, wrote the quizzes that you see in many women's magazines, and she'll give "what should I do/have done" scenarios in the form of a quiz - annoying, to say the least and the one aspect I wish the author would have left out). However, I'm glad I kept going. The quiz format thing eventually goes away (pretty much), and I actually found the female narrator of this book is especially good, aside from her reading of the "quizzes." There is a twist to this book that keeps you hooked. And the author writes like we often might think, there's no dumbing-down of anything. It's very well written and I'm so glad I used a credit on this! Get past the first part and you'll be glad you did too.

Historia
The Buckmaster Gallery is staging another Derwatt exhibition, but now an American collector claims that the expensive masterpiece he bought three years ago is a fake. It is, of course, and he wants to talk to Derwatt, but Derwatt, inconveniently, is dead. Ripley needs the perfect solution to keep his role in the fraud a secret and his reputation clean, but not everyone's nerves are as steady as his. Especially when it comes to murder.

Loving the Ripley series
Revisado: 07-10-13
Any additional comments?
I'd read that some didn't care for the second book in the Ripley series as much, but I completely enjoyed it. I'd been introduced to Ripley from the Talented Mr. Ripley movie, and enjoyed the book almost as much (yes, I actually liked the movie more than the book); but enjoyed it enough to move on to book two. And I liked it more I think because there was nothing I was comparing it to. Seeing how Ripley is evolving was interesting and the story itself kept me engaged. I'm definitely looking forward to Highsmith's next books in the Ripley series - he's a great character, and these stores make for great audible listens.

Exactly what I want in an audible book...
Revisado: 07-10-13
Any additional comments?
...a story I look forward to continuing every time I put my ear buds in. Not all audible books pass this test, and the ones that do I'm grateful to have discovered. A well-crafted story with a variety of characters (even one that shares my name!) that end up being connected in interesting ways. I hope St. John will continue writing in this genre; perhaps make this book into a series as the ending seems to imply, as I'm sure his stories will only get better. Part mystery, part "action book," I could actually see this story being turned into a movie.
