A glimpse into the unthinkable -but better in written form
Revisado: 12-29-23
As a Canadian, I have followed Dan’s story for years. Ruth and her family have handled this horrific situation with a grace and strength that I don’t think many of us could. That said, the whispery, breathless, overly dramatic reading style really detracted from Ruth’s content. I wish she had read it herself. Much love to the Markel family.

Historia
Being on the murder squad is nothing like Detective Antoinette Conway dreamed it would be. Her partner, Stephen Moran, is the only person who seems glad she's there. The rest of her working life is a stream of thankless cases, vicious pranks, and harassment. Antoinette is savagely tough, but she's getting close to the breaking point. Their new case looks like yet another by-the-numbers lovers' quarrel gone bad. Aislinn Murray is blond, pretty, groomed to a shine, and dead in her catalogue-perfect living room, next to a table set for a romantic dinner.

Just OK
Revisado: 02-23-16
I had a hard time listening to the author read this. Perhaps I have been spoiled by really great voice actors, but she sounded very young, too young for the character, and was a bit grating for me. The story was ok.. Kinda wish I had my credit back...

Historia
On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold walked into Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. Over the course of minutes, they would kill 12 students and a teacher and wound 24 others before taking their own lives. For the last 16 years, Sue Klebold, Dylan's mother, has lived with the indescribable grief and shame of that day. How could her child, the promising young man she had loved and raised, be responsible for such horror? And how, as his mother, had she not known something was wrong?

A cautionary tale for parents ...
Revisado: 02-18-16
A brave and honest account of her son's actions and hidden illness. Sue Klebold tells of her nightmarish experience openly, and admits her naivety, when she didn't put the pieces together until long after the Columbine attack. We all must rethink the "just a typical teenager" label we slap on kids and really listen more carefully.

No
Would you be willing to try another one of Zach Villa’s performances?
No
What character would you cut from The Life We Bury?
None. I just wouldn't have purchased.

Revisado: 09-13-15
Would you try another book from Corban Addison and/or Soneela Nankani?
No
What could Corban Addison have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Researched the topic much more.
What didn’t you like about Soneela Nankani’s performance?
Everything. The perky, high school student rendition was painful and grinding to listen to.

Horrifying example of corporate greed!
Revisado: 09-30-14
What did you like about this audiobook?
I found the book hard to put down. The greed and arrogance of these companies is appalling. An interesting look at the challenges faced in trying to gain government involvement in big business and their reluctance to do so until faced with significant blowback. The human cost of due to the perfect storm of defective products is staggering.
How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?
I have always been interested in these type of books. Another great one is The Immortal life of Henrietta Lacks. Another look at corporate greed and arrogance.
What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?
Nothing. The narration was great and appropriate for this book.
