Historia
By the early 1960s, Ford Motor Company, built to bring automobile transportation to the masses, was falling behind. Baby boomers were taking to the roads in droves, looking for speed not safety, style not comfort, and Ford didn’t offer what these young drivers wanted. Meanwhile, Enzo Ferrari lorded over the European racing scene, crafting beautiful, fast sports cars that epitomized style.

It is so well done that I have listened to it at least three times. I like the way the reader changes inflections and puts a slight accent on foreign characters. Well done!

Historia
Genius? Tyrant? Power broker? Enzo Ferrari is the impressively researched, fully detailed biography of one of the most powerful men of the twentieth century. Brock Yates penetrated Ferrari’s inner circle and reveals everything, from his early days in the town of Modena to his bizarre relationship with his illegitimate son; from his fanatic passion for speed to his brilliant marketing of the famous Ferrari image; from his manipulative but enormously effective management tactics to his own frustrated dreams. Fast, fun, and scandalous, Enzo Ferrari more than lives up to its remarkable subject.

Very detailed, performance annoying at times.
Revisado: 02-12-24
I greatly enjoyed the story. Learned a lot about Enzo Ferrari. But the performer insisted on pronouncing the Italian names and words with an Italian accent, as if we were in Italy listening to a native. This was…annoying. And distracting. And because the book is loaded with Italian terms, it really took away from the story. I almost returned it at the beginning. A word to future performers - When a book is in English, please use English pronunciations.

Revisado: 12-31-23
Great story and characters. The vocal skills of the narrator are amazing. He did both men
And women and stayed in character, I could tell by his tone and voice inflection who was speaking. As the son of a WW2 vet I really appreciated this story. Those men and women were the greatest generation and I can see why so many if not all of the combat vets were damaged for life. Loved it! Sorry to gush but I really mean it.

Historia
One Hawaiian afternoon, a cruise ship filled with Japanese tourists comes under fire. Unbelievably, a civilian helicopter is strafing the ship with automatic weapons. The shock waves from the tragic attack reach all the way to Washington and Tokyo. In retaliation for the attack, a group of American tourists is ambushed in Osaka, and then Japanese-Americans become targets across the United States. Relations between the US and Japan rapidly deteriorate. The only way to restore order and prevent a greater conflict is to find out who is responsible for the initial attack - and why.

Good story damaged by performance
Revisado: 03-03-23
I enjoyed the story. Whenever he was describing English characters in English, the narrators voice was strong and clear. But when the characters were Japanese, his idea of a Japanese accent was awful. At times it even sounded German. I still don’t understand why Japanese people would speak in their own language to each other with an accent. The bad accents made me cringe. But if you can block that out, go for it.

Today’s NASCAR is a family sport with 75 million loyal fans, which is growing bigger and more mainstream by the day. Part Disney, part Vegas, part Barnum & Bailey, NASCAR is also a multibillion-dollar business and a cultural phenomenon that transcends geography, class, and gender. But dark secrets lurk in NASCAR’s past.

Excellent documentary, Narrator annoying
Revisado: 09-17-22
The story itself is detailed and well told. The narrator has a pleasant enough speaking voice but insists on heavily over-using the phrase "Quote/Unquote". As astute listeners we can tell when there is a direct quote being read to us, We don't need to hear "Quote/Unquote" several times per paragraph. This really detracts from the performance. In the future I will avoid any book being read by this performer for this reason alone..

Historia
Jay A. Stout breaks new ground in World War II history with this gripping account of one of the war’s most highly decorated American fighter groups. Stout combines the storytelling gifts and careful research for a seasoned historian with the combat experience of a former fighter pilot to tell the remarkable story of the 352nd Fighter Group. This isn’t just the story of a single fighter group; it’s the story of how the United States won the air war over Europe.

Highly detailed. I liked the way the author named as many people as possible. They were our brave fellow citizens, many of them barely legal age, and they deserve to be remembered. Well narrated too.

At the center of the deadly conflict are two men on a mission: one wants to find his father's killer, while the other wants to destroy Glasnost and provoke a war. The ensuing underwater chases and battles build to a stunning showdown.

Very technical Good story
Revisado: 07-23-21
I enjoyed the story and the narrator. I soon learned to recognize the different voices and what character they belonged to. Learned a lot about onboard nuclear power plants. My only complaint is very minor and directed at the author. American submarines are called “boats”, not ships.
