It's okay.
Revisado: 10-22-24
This was a fast-paced tale that did a good book of keeping my interest even if there were some things I found irritating about it.
The main character is a likable bored house husband who's completely devoted to his young son while the wife is the busy business executive whos out with the girls in her spare time with no time for the the family. It's the cliché with role reversals.
It was just a bunch of little things that bothered me... like the child being so present and other times wondering where he was, and we he could talk to well.
It was just little details that were off or missing, and I couldn't help but wonder if they they were purposely ignored in hopes in would help the story flow or actually overlooked.
Toward the end, I thought maybe the husband was suffering from some mental illness for a while that had broke down his marriage, but then wondered if perhaps the author was trying to show that his wife had been abusing him all along... I'm still not sure. Maybe it's easier to follow that if you read it, although it did not feel as though it was difficult to follow at all.
It wasn't a bad story, and it did keep me engaged. The narration was good and fit the story. The twist was surprising enough. I would not turn anyone away from this listen and would likely try another book by this author.

Is this what's in store? June 12, 2030, started out like any other day in memory---and by then, memories were long. Since cancer had been cured fifteen years before, America's population was aging rapidly. That sounds like good news, but consider this: millions of baby boomers, with a big natural predator picked off, were sucking dry benefits and resources that were never meant to hold them into their eighties and beyond.

Don't over think it
Revisado: 10-08-24
This is a fun bit of dystopia that's not meant to be taken too seriously . It has a satirical tone that I rather enjoyed.
The end wasn't much of an end, to be sure, and the style of the book was such that it could have ended at any point as easily as where it did.

loved it
Revisado: 09-24-24
This was my first Liane Moriarty book, and I loved it. I listened to it as an audiobook, and it was don't beautifully.
I found this to be a great take on fate and how different people grapple with what life throws at them. But this book is so much more than that with all its different POVs.
It reminded me of a study on grief and how we grieve for things that are lost to us throughout our lives in different ways, some within our control and others controlled by fate.
Each POV showed us things that were within the characters' control that caused some kind of loss and how that affected how they took on and accepted the death date when given to them. All the while sharing with us the story of the "psychics" grief that brought her to the plane to begin with.
I found it to be a very deep story, far more than just the surface take. Either way, it was very enjoyable for me, and I will be reading more from this author(although I just realized I have enjoyed some shows from her books already).

Historia
In the world of Warbreaker, each person is born endowed with the power of one Breath―which can be sold and collected by others, then used to Awaken objects and even corpses to do their bidding. A few individuals who die in glory return as gods, with the power of thousands of Breath, but no memory of their mortal lives―and are enthroned in the Court of Gods in Hallandren’s capital. To Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris, the abuse of Breath and the claim of the Returned to be gods are repugnant blasphemy.

Had potential
Revisado: 07-03-24
I had high hopes for this book , but it was just okay. It was one of those stories that left me wanting more, but not in a good way. For me, many of the "thriller" parts just fell flat, like the author didn't want to fully flesh things out.
Everything was just surface level. It just doesn't deliver on its potential.
I'm not likely to try another of this authors' books.

Bravo!
Revisado: 05-16-24
This book ends up the trilogy nicely, it was so suspenseful with exciting twists and turns. I thought it was the best of the series.
It made the things I didn't enjoy about it worth getting through.
I know the author added to the original series ten years after this book, but I'm not sure I'm going to read those, if I do it won't be now,I don't think. This had a satisfying finish.

A series I love to hate
Revisado: 04-12-24
So much I enjoy about this series, It's fast paced, action packed and full of intrigue, in space... what more could you ask for? Well, just a little less of the constant violence would have made it perfect. I find that I start dreading the next fight scene, and I don't usually have a problem with it. It something about how this series is written, I feel beaten up with the characters. I will be moving on to the next one though.

Historia
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.
