How well the author kept the reporter in the dark.
Revisado: 04-20-25
I really enjoyed this book, primarily because it was so well crafted and well read. Additionally, I felt that the whole story made sense. The effects of an isolated upbringing - the early tragedy of the Grandfather’s life, and the need that drove him to destroy women.

This lush novel, set in 1766 England and America, evokes an era ripe with riot and revolution, from the teeming streets of London to the sprawling grounds of a Virginia plantation. Believable characters and excellent narration.
Revisado: 04-06-25
It is a story, like all Follett’s work, you can’t put down. Every moment is alive so the reader feels the anger, the sweetness, the lust. He has the remarkable ability to expose the internal conflicts without spelling it out as so many authors tend to do. You won’t be disappointed.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.
