Pretty good.
Revisado: 05-14-24
Narrated well. A little strange that Audible clearly released this without anyone listening to it first because there are retakes all over the place, the narrator clearing his throat and repeating lines etc. Entertaining.

Expertly written and narrated. But too depressing
Revisado: 11-13-22
Clearly the author told a story exactly the way he intended. But warning; this book is not the typical story with a hero the reader is pulling for. It is a tragedy. Well done, but don’t expect to be uplifted or frankly entertained. It is painful and maddening. But can’t knock the story for that. Like life, sometimes people are just crappy.

Historia
After 9/11, the United States made one of the most secretive and dangerous deals in its history. The evidence against the powerful Saudis who coordinated the attack would be buried. In return, King Faisal would promise to keep the oil flowing and deal with the conspirators in his midst. When the king's own nephew is discovered funding ISIS, the president suspects that the Saudis never intended to live up to their agreement.

I like Kyle Mills, but not as Mitch Rapp
Revisado: 04-12-22
Kyle Mills is actually a great narrator but he misses Mitch Rapp’s character quite badly. It has to be hard to follow George Guidall so I give him a solid B+. He makes Rapp too emotional and almost annoying and whiny. Every actor interprets characters their own way so I expected some change but not this drastic. Didn’t ruin the story by any means but it was noticeable.

Good story but couldn’t get over the narrators interpretation of Mitch Rapp. Very corny voices. Once you hear Guidall it’s hard to hear anyone else.

Nathan Stone was killed in action while serving as a covert CIA operative. Or so everyone thought. In reality he’s become a ghost, a black-ops asset with a new identity and controlled by a secret government organization. The Commission has one aim: to hunt down and assassinate anti-establishment enemies of the state. Its number-one target is Senator Brad Crichton, an ambitious politician with growing support. Stone is ready to take him out, but his plan is soon compromised....

There isn’t a hero in this book. Everyone is the bad guy and really unlikable. Writing was mediocre. Felt like it was written by an angry teenager who likes to play first person shooter games.

Worth the listen, but not as good Eisler’s other stuff.
Revisado: 08-18-18
This book lacks a likable hero. It’s okay for main characters to be flawed, but these ones are all whiny and petty. Two brothers who take sibling rivalry so far as to wish each other were dead and a girl who can only be snippy even though her inter-dialog tells her not to be. Result was that I wasn’t really pulling for any of them. Pretty good story though. I’ll probably finush the series.

Book identity crisis alert: this book is trying to be a medical thriller, a mob crime fiction, and a slasher horror at the same time.
Too bad, the writer obviously has some talent and the narrator was quite good. It was just too unbelievable.

Worst Narration I've Ever Heard. Unlistenable.
Revisado: 08-11-14
What would have made Separation of Power better?
The audio company obviously didn't hold an audition for this reading. Or, whoever did the audition had no idea what story was going to be read. NOBODY would have thought this was a good voice for Mitch Rapp. It was truly awful.
Has Separation of Power turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. It isn't the author's fault or the genre's fault. The blame lies 100% with the audio company, the narrator and Audible for making it available for purchase.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ken Kilban?
Anyone. Up to and including Siri, or even a Speak and Spell. That is how horrible this was.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I don't know. I couldn't finish it. I only got through 5 chapters.
Any additional comments?
Audible should give everyone who purchased this book a 1 credit refund. 99% of the reviews say the narration is horrendous, the other 1% say it is really really bad. When a business fails that miserably on a product they give customers refunds and remove the product from the shelves. Do the right thing Audible. This is a huge FAIL!
