OMG. I needed a peaceful book to listen to- like Ina's soothing voice. I learned so much, yet she didn't do the "deep dive" with her privacy and gossip like a lot of celebs- which is honestly refreshing. I was going to start this review by saying how short it was but saw it was EIGHT hours. So it flew by and I will listen again. Highly recommend opening 50 page PDF available with this in your Audible BROWSER library. Great pics and recipes I will be trying! Questions: is anyone getting the PDF in color? I can only get B&W. AND- info on where to find high altitude baking for recipes here? Great memoir... chef's kiss! Muah!

Better than I expected!

I had kind of grown tired of this genre. The whole “gone girl” kind of thing so I wasn’t expecting much. I thought this was a really well written mystery and kept my interest. I thought it had good twists and turns and layers. I recommend it!

It’s an excellent book. While the main characters are 18, the entire plot revolves around adult themes, mistakes, choices and relationships. Very well told and the narration was wonderful.

I love Stephen King, even the books that aren’t horror. I know some people complain about that. He is just a great writer. This book manages to combine both his great story telling with some amazing fantasy/horror. I was so sad when it ended.

Stick with it… a great read.

This builds and gets more and more interesting as it goes along. There may not be as many insights at the beginning from the “killer” (like in other books) but the second half of the book ties a lot together. In the last quarter of the book or so there are interviews with him. Everything ties together well and I appreciated the “after he was caught” part of the story.
As a medical professional, I especially appreciated the medical descriptions and drug names, etc.

LOVED everything but mandatory songs

This is a GREAT book. Well told. Great narrator. The only reason I take off a star is for the “folk songs” that are inserted though out the book (like an albums worth). FF button made it easy enough to skip through these, but they were not my cup of tea and kinda took away from the flow of the story. (Shouldn’t be a dealbreaker as this is a great book.)

Te best true crime book I have listened to.

First- this book is brutally graphic. It is about an evil serial killer of children and women. If that is not something you want to listen to, it is not for you.
This book is well researched and told. It does deep dives into each persons history. The narrator is EXCELLENT. The last few hours is a deep dive into the psychological reasons this killer did what he did. Truly fascinating listen.

I love Stephen King but…

So many holes in the story. Contrived plots are ok and I love a Stephen King story and will buy them all- crime or sci-fi. No sci-fi here but so many implausible plot holes. I enjoyed the listen but a couple of times I deducted stars in my head when I was startled with implausible plot add-ins.

Lost me with too heavy religious tone

it seems she mentioned her church or congregation every page and that set a preachy tone for me that turned me off after a few chapters.
