Enjoyable Listen Overall
Revisado: 04-27-25
It was a good story although like many other listeners, the male voice was not quite sexy in my opinion. It resembles Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory.

Captivating
Revisado: 02-11-25
I was worried that it would be too much like Outlander or The Time Travelers Wife, but this is well-written and well-performed. I really enjoyed it and will likely buy it in print to absorb.

Captivating and Clean

I have been enjoying listening to cleaner reads with less sex. This book is a great balance of love story, mystery, and period piece. I am sure I will listen to it again someday for leisure background noise.

A romance amidst chaos with an Austen backdrop. I enjoyed the story and the narration. The main characters were well written and portrayed. Definitely worth a listen.

Good Listen
Revisado: 03-12-24
I enjoyed the story line but Lydia (the main character) became irksome toward the end and I had trouble connecting with the character, which made me lose interest a bit for the last 2 hours. Overall it was good, though. Nicely written and narrated.
Knowing myself, it will be one of those stories that sticks with me for a long time merely because I found myself slightly irritated by Lydia Bird.

Historia
Lucy Young is twenty-six and tired. Tired of fetching coffees for senior TV producers, sick of going on disastrous dates, and done with living in a damp flat with roommates who never buy toilet paper. After another disappointing date, Lucy stumbles upon a wishing machine. Pushing a coin into the slot, Lucy closes her eyes and wishes with all her might: Please, let me skip to the good part of my life.

Lovely
Revisado: 02-24-24
The main character was written well. Sophie did a great job at making her very human with irritating flaws and redeemable qualities. The story itself was a surprise as I didn't read any reviews or the jacket, I simply pressed purchase, and I'm glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing and will likely listen to it again in the future. The narration was perfect.

Historia
When Olivia moves to Port Townsend, her marriage is floundering, and her life is in pieces. She doesn’t know if things with her husband Mark are truly over, or quite why the phone call she longs for on her daughter’s birthday will never come. Joining a letter-writing club seems like a harmless decision. But when she meets Ned, an ex-soldier badly wounded in Afghanistan, this unlooked-for friendship revives unexpected emotions and memories she’d rather forget.

A lot to process
Revisado: 03-08-23
It took me quite some time to make it through this as an audio book as it was slow and vague in places. Overall, it was good, though heart-wrenching. A truly good book is one that sticks with you, and I can see this one doing just that. Oftentimes I read to escape reality; this story is perhaps too close to reality to be 100% relaxing.

Cute and heartwarming.
Revisado: 01-13-23
I thought this was a good listen and worth a credit. I read a lot of the reviews, and my experience didn't match up with the people who had negative comments, so it's definitely a personal taste issue more than anything. Laughed several times, nothing raunchy (call me crazy but the sex scenes get so old), and I appreciated the low-key drama instead of high-end conflict. It was a perfect listen for winding down before sleep.

Whimsical and funny
Revisado: 11-26-22
Overall, I think it was a cute story, and it gave me several laugh out loud moments. The 3 stars on the story are more about the selling of toxic female traits as adorable, but alas, it is a RomCom.
