Read Mark Haddon's "The Curious Incident of the Dog at Nighttime" instead. Much richer and more complex. Rain Reign has an idealized take on Asperger's. Please, for real, show me a kid with HFA who gets their homework done and fixes dinner every afternoon unsupervised plus can think on their feet enough to pack up all of their belongings upon inferring that they were being abandoned.

A slow-moving, mediocre frame for a few erotic scenes at the end. Predictable and sexist.

Towles gives poetic voice to this sharp, sensitive, grounded young lady, and the narrator gives life and tone. A beautiful, heartbreaking, uplifting tale of youthful ambition and romance, and a love song to a New York that was.

A little A little Austen, a little Agatha Christie, a little Bronte, with a touch of magic.

I found a new author to follow here. Great narration, too!
A modern romance, coming-of-age story, mystery, and dysfunctional family drama, this tale draws on wry language, a clever plot, and beautifully developed characters and relationships to create a fun read, but also an interesting probe of verbal abuse, sources of strength, the power of love. Don't let the magic horse bit over influence your choice.
