Historia
Mystery author Rachel Goldman is getting used to the idea that her fictional creation, Duffy Madison, has somehow taken flesh-and-blood form and is investigating missing person cases not far from where Rachel lives. Wait. No. She's not getting used to it at all, and the presence of this real-life Duffy is making her current manuscript - what's the word? - lousy.

E J shame on you!!
Revisado: 04-03-25
You write better than this!! The last 3 to 4 chapters of each of your books in this series have been clusters. They are scrambled their short. They are abrupt.. They are not worthy of what you usually write. Thank God, I was able just to download them and not have to buy them. Because I would totally turn them back around. Very disappointed.

Historia
One day, I’m married, living in Seattle, and magic isn’t real. The next, I’m divorced and living in the guest room of my ex’s hotter-than-sin cousin’s place in Savannah and talking to an animated skeleton named Robert. I have to admit, Robert isn’t my worst date. At 41, I didn’t think I’d be starting over. But I’ll be damned if my ex thinks I’m down and out because he pulled a fast one on me. When a job comes my way that offers me a chance to use my childhood training in the shadow world, I take it.

Trouble keeping account of Who is Who
Revisado: 08-24-24
Oddly, all the male characters have one syllable names and their accents are quite similar. It took 3 quarters of the book to get everyone sorted. It was a relatively enjoyable book and I may go along to listen to the next one.

Historia
Librarian Sylvia Ashe knows nothing about her past, having grown up without a father and a mother who refused to discuss him. When she stumbles upon a diary that suggests she's descended from magicians, she's skeptical. After all, magicians are special, and she's just an ordinary woman who loves books. She seeks answers from a member of the most prominent family of magicians, but she quickly learns that finding the truth won't be easy, especially when he turns out to be as artless as her, and more compelling and dangerous than books.

Charming and Interesting Enough…
Revisado: 11-10-23
… to check out future books in this series. I previously read the first three books in the steel and glass series. I was there for, familiar with some of the characters in this one. It was helpful to have that background, but not necessary.

Historia
When local fisherman Horace Boller decided to row his boat out on the tidal backwash of the river one morning, he couldn't have meant to land a catch like this. What he ended up with was a body floating on the river's surface. And judging by the state of the corpse, the death was not a recent one. The strange thing is, the coroner report indicates that drowning was not the cause of death. It's up to the intrepid C. D. Sloan - and his markedly less intrepid assistant, Constable Crosby - to investigate.

Glossed Over and Too Short
Revisado: 07-18-23
Let me start off by saying that this was a free listen. I was somewhat disappointed in this particular story. It felt like more of an outline that needed filling out. Instead of 5 1/2 hours it could easily have been eight with a lot more depth. I have enjoyed many of this author’s books. This one, not so much.
