Historia
Moneyball reveals a quest for something as elusive as the Holy Grail, something that money apparently can't buy: the secret of success in baseball. The logical places to look would be the giant offices of major league teams and the dugouts. But the real jackpot is a cache of numbers collected over the years by a strange brotherhood of amateur baseball enthusiasts: software engineers, statisticians, Wall Street analysts, lawyers, and physics professors.

Historia
Written with bracing wit and intelligence, Rachel Maddow's Drift argues that we've drifted away from America's original ideals and become a nation weirdly at peace with perpetual war, with all the financial and human costs that entails. To understand how we've arrived at such a dangerous place, Maddow takes us from the Vietnam War to today's war in Afghanistan.

Historia
An alarming rise in the world's sea levels - much larger than could be accounted for by glacier melt - sends Kurt Austin, Joe Zavala, and the rest of the NUMA scientific team rocketing around the globe in search of answers. What they find at the bottom of the East China Sea, however, is even worse than they imagined: a diabolical plan to upset the Pacific balance of power - and in the process displace as many as a billion people.

Pretty good story
Revisado: 04-18-18
I like how the author tied historical facts into the story. Lots of action, reminds me of James Bond type story. Scott Brick is an OK reader, his delivery can be too dramatic.

Interesting Science and great dog stories
Revisado: 04-14-12
Would you consider the audio edition of The Wolf in the Parlor to be better than the print version?
Yes, George Wilson was the perfect narrator for this book.
Which scene was your favorite?
It's a good mix of some interesting brain sciene, studies of the wolf, with really good dog stories. George Wilson has a casual reading style that adds to the book.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I have listened to this book more than once, and have shared the stories with many friends.
Any additional comments?
The intro line is so relavent it go something like this "the certainies you held in your 20's become obsurities in your 50's" Oh, how true. This author has some really great insights.

Bring back George Wilson
Revisado: 08-10-10
I miss George Wilson as the reader. He takes Hiaasen's book to another level of fun. That aside, this was my least favorite of Hiaasen's book, Ive read or listened to most, and have enjoyed them all, except this one The ending is a non ending, just jumps to epilogue. Wasn't that entertaining.

OK - entertaining
Revisado: 08-09-08
I quess I'm spoiled. Carl Hiaasen, His characters are odd but exciting. These characters were odd, but dull. I like the use of famous or deep quotes with their reference. I think if the ghost had more character, could speak. It's OK and entertaining. I just was expecting more.

Great book, excellent reader.
Revisado: 02-16-08
I really enjoyed reading (listen?) this book. I like when the author presents the story as a reflection. This case a son discovering his ordinary father was an extordinary soldier. I also enjoy how throughout the story the main character expresses his thoughts and feelings, the metaphors "as my emotions tumbled down the staircase, when I came to rest at the bottom, although bruised, I was all right". Something like that. It is high ground for an author to intertwine historical facts into the fiction. Not only entertaining but learning by experiencing. Bottom line it was real good, and read well, hated for it to end. If you read this and like it, try Killer Angels, setting Gettysburg Civil War. If you like how the author presents the story through the son, try The Way to Bright Star. I'm looking forward to another Scott Turow book, and check out other books read by Edward Hermann,( is this guy the actor that was in Overboard, sounds like him).
