Historia
“This is one of those stories that begins with a female body. Hers was crumpled, roadside, in the ash-colored slush between asphalt and snowbank.” So begins Erica Berry’s kaleidoscopic exploration of wolves, both real and symbolic. At the center of this lyrical inquiry is the legendary OR-7, who roams away from his familial pack in northeastern Oregon. While charting OR-7’s record-breaking journey out of the Wallowa Mountains, Erica simultaneously details her own coming-of-age as she moves away from home and wrestles with inherited beliefs about fear, danger, femininity, and the body.

A wonderful chronicle
Revisado: 07-16-24
A wonderful chronicle that parallels several lives, breathing energy into a subject that many people might otherwise consider dry. Those of us with a passion for wolves will find this an easy read, but Berry injects a beautiful synergy between subjects and timelines that any reader will appreciate.
Ruminations on the author's lived experiences drawn with a wolfish brush take the reader on a palpable exploration of the way our society treats women and margianalized communities and how both wolves and people have been victimized by our societal perceptions.
In short, you come away from this book with a deeper appreciation for wolves as they exist in actuality, and how they exist in our collective psyche.
A brilliant read I'm proud to add to my book shelf.
