admittedly I'm picky about narrators. Often, I can't even finish because I get so distracted by performance flaws. I at least finished this one. All of her character voices, other than the main character, sounded like a cackling old wicked witch.

I wasn't sure I'd like this... about a hunting family and guns etc., and the story itself was not good or happy...but the message is compelling and important no matter which side of the gun debate you're on.

This one wasn't one that's a difficult read....it may be for some with more difficult mother/daughter relationships thiough. For, was just very heavy. The stories of the women are woven together so beautifully. The performance was excellent...and I'm picky!

It was four o'clock in the morning. A young woman pushed through the hospital doors. Staff would later say they thought the woman was a new mother, returning to her child - and in a way, she was. She walked into the nursery, where a baby girl lay sleeping. The infant didn't wake when the woman placed her gently in the shopping bag she had brought with her. There is CCTV footage of what happened next, and most Australians would have seen it, either on the internet or the news.

One annoying problem

The story was good, the performance was good. BUT there are so many other ways to tackle dialogue heavy text that don't involve saying "said" so much. Jo said, Gabe said, Ursa said, the girl said, he said, Ursa said, Ursa said, Ursa said ..... It was distracting!

I admit I struggled to follow in the first episode and almost quit, except I was driving so I figured I would find something when my short trip was over. But by the time I got to my destination it had gotten interesting and soon, I was completely hooked! it's presented as a play with a cast of characters...not a single narrator. Occasionally it can be difficult to tell who is speaking but the script gives very effective prompts so I rarely couldn't figure it out quickly. I don't judge based on great literary concepts...I just like a good story...and that's what this is!
