Historia
What’s the actual last thing you’d ever want your celebrity crush to see you doing when you finally come face-to-excruciatingly-handsome-face with him? Singing and dancing around by yourself to “Dreams” by The Cranberries while drinking straight from a bottle of champagne? While you’re wearing some wedding gown you just found in a closet? Yeah. Me too. And yet, here we are. At a mountain cabin I was sent to by the awfully pretty actress/pretty awful human I work for to get things ready for her romantic New Year’s Eve getaway with him.

Cheeky and fun
Revisado: 12-30-24
Adored the narration. Fans of Erin Mallon and Jason Clarke will enjoy this romcom a lot. I sure did!
I liked the story, but I’ll be honest, the virgin trope is not a favorite of mine. And while I love the character of Piper, she did feel childish at times.
Still, the chemistry of Holden and Piper was really nice. I liked the “almost” instances they had. Kayley wrote those well and I loved the weaving in of the entertainment industry.
The story was easy to consume and I liked that. Team Piper forever!

You’d think nearly dying trying to get out of a too-tight gown in a dressing room and being saved by a strong, competent man was a good thing. Not so much, though, when that strong, competent man is your ex. Your secret ex. And the reason you need a gown is because you’re part of a charity auction. The charity auction where he gets into a bidding war to win you. And now, because you’re one of few female coaches in professional baseball, and he’s the captain of the local professional hockey team, and he paid a ridiculous sum of money for you…

A tiny bit hard to get to the good part.
Revisado: 08-13-24
I loved being back in this world, but the character of Addie did test me a bit. Okay, a lot. I had a hard time with her, but it almost took me out. It's not that I didn't like her, I was frustrated with her. I did appreciate how Pippa wrote about her mental health. I actually really liked that a lot because she still managed to keep that charm of her books with a sensitive subject.
Now coming back to the characters from other books did make it easier and Duncan was just a sweet little morsel of book boyfriend. My goodness I liked him a lot. Even when he was doing too much, I ate it up. Not the first time this series has done this to me and I will be back every time.
Also, I loved having hockey AND baseball featured in a sports romance. Why not and why isn't there more?
As for the narration, Virginia Rose and Tim Paige were great. I actually haven't listened to a lot of Tim's work, so this was a really nice audio to hear him on. Virginia was excellent as always. They really uplifted the book for me and since this is a slow burn, they really were a pleasure to listen to.

There are a million reasons why I shouldn’t date Fletcher Huxley. He’s a growly-faced, stubborn-streaked, international rugby legend trying to revive his flailing career in the US after being canned by his team overseas. While he might have the good kind of thunder thighs, intriguing tattoos, and a booty of steel, he also holds the top position on my very short nemesis list thanks to what happened the first time we met.

Was it love?
Revisado: 04-19-24
Fletcher has a mustache and he’s that grumpy sunshine thing going. Goldie (honestly love that we get a main character with this name) is a fun extrovert. That’s a quick and easy intro to our couple.
We get a lot of the typical Pippa writing, which I like, but sometimes feels repetitive. It’s like comfort food though and I really like that aspect.
Fletcher though, felt like he had a few red and yellow flags. And yes, I know people can evolve and learn, but sheesh, at his big age?
Goldie is fun though and I love that she had an older girl gang. I can relate to that a bit. It’s nice being able to get along with people of all ages.
Still, the story fell short for me, but the narration? Amazing. Samantha and Jason did such a good job and it once again did that magical thing of elevating the whole experience for me.

Historia
The Bride’s Runaway Billionaire is a deliciously juicy and utterly swoony romcom featuring a jaded optimist who’s had enough of the limelight, a happy-go-lucky celebrity whose world has been upside down since that fling after his divorce, the most adorable two-year-old on the planet, and a chicken with an attitude. While this book stands alone, you won’t go wrong to listen to The Worst Wedding Date, The Gossip and the Grump, and The Last Eligible Billionaire first.

A clucking good time.
Revisado: 02-05-24
Narrated by Savannah Peachwood and Connor Crais. This was a pairing I adored. With lots to play with in the story, they shined.
I have to start this by saying, I am not a secret baby fan. It’s not one of my fave tropes at all. If someone is going to get me interested in it, it would be Pippa Grant. So just a little heads up if that isn’t your thing.
I did like how this all starts. Emma the runaway bride on her honeymoon and Jonas the a billionaire celebrity hiding from the limelight. I AM IN. To be together in your own world for a brief moment. Just hit me with the feels about this! Then after this tryst and some years, the toddler is discovered and there’s some explaining to do.
This is where it got a bit too much about Bash for me. I don’t mind kids, but I just wanted more progression from the couple.
As with a lot of Pippa’s books, we get to meet a ton of characters. It might have been a little too much, but also found family is just one of the things that’ll always get me and her signature humor that she weaves through the story. Not my fave of the 3 books, but the narration was top tier and it elevated the book for me.

I was upgraded to first class on a flight from London to New York. The food, champagne, and service were impeccable. The blue-eyed man sitting next to me, even better. He was suave and intelligent. We talked and laughed, and something clicked. Fate took over and the plane was grounded, and we had an unexpected stopover for the night. With no plans, we made our own.

Absolutely not for me
Revisado: 06-29-23
The gaze of this book was just not for me. I thought the characters were frustrating and not at all my thing. I didn’t think the man did anything worthy and the woman was all over the place. This couple needed therapy.
The redeeming thing was the audio. It is dominated by CJ Bloom, but she’s good. Sebastian York’s parts were done well. I just can’t justify a higher rating for how I felt about the story.
Again, not my thing. I pushed through because I know a few people who felt the same way and enjoyed some of the other books in this series. Honestly, I want to just read Tristian’s book already.

I, Cooper Rock, baseball god, worshipper of women, hometown hero, beloved son and brother, and owner of a well-deserved ego, have always reached for the stars. Usually in baseball. In love? Nah. When you’ve played the field as much as I have and haven’t been bit by the bug, you’re immune. Or so I thought until she walked back into my life.

Unexpected, but irresistible.
Revisado: 11-05-22
Now, what really got me feeling a way about this book was how Cooper rock was basically the quintessential athlete playboy. At first I hated it. Why does the guy have to be, well, promiscuous and the woman be not?
Well, I know why, but here’s the thing, a little bit into the book I realized how realistic it was. (Let’s say I worked in sports a long time ago.) And then I just sort of let Cooper be a man falling for a woman and it just clicked.
Waverly is so hard on herself as a singer and as a person with very few family members, but once she gets a taste of living for herself, this isn’t just a fun and sweet (sometimes super hot) love story, it’s *her* story. I love the little touch of found family, too.
I also liked how this couple found their way back to each other.
Connor Crais and Mackenzie Cartwright deliver an excellent audio. It’s about time Connor got a Pippa audio and it is worth it.

Historia
Have you ever fake dated your bodyguard? I don't recommend it. Especially if he's anything like Erik Wilder: Former football player, world class know-it-all and unapologetic grump. To be clear, I didn't want a bodyguard (hence the fake dating idea). Most days, I can’t figure out why he wants the job either. We drive each other insane, probably because we’re as opposite as two people can be. He’s suspicious, never talks about his past and has the comfort skills of a cactus. I’m a happily-ever-after kind of girl who knows exactly what she wants out of life.

Unexpected, but expected love story
Revisado: 08-21-22
We got tropes on tropes with this story.
Bodyguard
Slow burn
Close proximity
Age gap
Fake relationship
I’ll even say it’s a sports romance.
Here’s the thing, I’m not a fan of a lot of age gaps, this one was about 8 or so years, but Lydia is wise beyond her years, while Erik is still flailing from a life he had to walk away from.
And while we had all those tropes going on, Karla writes moments that just stick with you. Like, I found myself holding my breath in anticipation or maybe anxiety? Who knows! I just knew once it was all said and done, I felt relief.
This isn’t a heavy book though. It’s paced well and has some sweet moments. The hero is grumpy. The heroine is the sunshine.
Teddy Hamilton and Stella Hunter are a great pairing. Teddy absolutely nailed it with some of his scenes.
Overall a very good audiobook for me.

Dean Evans is the worst. Not only does the devil in disguise steal my pie on a regular basis, he also lives in the apartment right. Next. Door. I see him all the time. At the mailboxes. In the elevator. Every single morning. It's exhausting because he's exhausting. Now, after setting his apartment on fire, he's my roommate, and he's the worst at that, too. I don't know what possessed me to let him stay with me. Pity, perhaps? I do know that I won't be falling for his charm.

A little slow burn with a romcom
Revisado: 08-14-22
Okay, so it kinda predictable, but really enjoyable audio. Ava Erickson was perfect as River and Nelson Hobbs as made me want to listen to more of him. I really was pretty entertained by their narration.
River and Dean have this hate hate thing going as neighbors. I liked this chemistry they had. An incident makes them unlikely roomies and that’s where it starts ramping up.
This was a bit of a slow burn, but then when it finally sets off another fire (hehe, you’ll get what I mean), they are totally in for a hot mess of complications and obvious signs of more than friends.
Still, even though I was a bit irritated with the repetitive stuff that romance has, Teagan Hunter writes in such an entertaining way, that I must have more now.

He's a billionaire heir. A grump supreme. Hater of people. Bigger hater of peopling with people. And my new fake boyfriend. "Emotionally unavailable" doesn’t even begin to describe Hayes Rutherford. He has more defenses than a nuclear missile silo. And he’s the ultimate catch of the century. At least, according to his bank statement. My job’s simple: Keep all interested ladies away from the walled-off heir, by pretending to be his one true love. But you know what they say about fake-dating a billionaire: It’s all fun and games, until the scandals start.

An unassuming billionaire falls for a creative mess.
Revisado: 03-28-22
Gosh, I enjoy Pippa Grant’s books so much. While this wasn’t one of my top favorites, I adored the character of Begonia. Her quirks were just a delight to me. Hayes was also quite refreshing as a billionaire that actually didn’t feel like a billionaire.
All in all though, the story could have used a little more oomph, but if you’re looking for a fun, easy read, this is it.
I just loved how Hayes loved Begonia. He went all in and in a way that supported her growth.
The narration was top tier, which for me, elevated the story. Teddy Hamilton’s Hayes had that sort of grounded voice that I imagined. Virginia Rose knocks it out of the park with her narration. She’s just so good in Pippa’s books.
A pleasing read, especially if you’re a fan of fun romcoms.

I, Tillie Jean Rock, am not in love with my brother’s teammate. Sure, he might have those biceps and that “I am the grouchiest of grouchy bears” smolder, and he might shovel snow off his driveway next door wearing nothing but boxer shorts and rubber boots, and he might be running a side business feeding all the stray goats in town, but studliness is only skin-deep.

Could have been more, but still very good.
Revisado: 09-20-21
First, I love this audio duo. Savannah Peachwood just voices Pippa heroines so well and on point. Wen Ross was great as well. While he definitely didn’t top his previous Pippa book, he was still excellent.
The story went up and down for me though. I went ahead and rounded to 4 stars because it did keep me engaged and I loved the prank wars. I think TJ being flirty was cute, almost like a role reversal. I did have a little bit of an issue with Max repeatedly feeling unworthy. I get it. His childhood was messed up, but I knew that the first several times it was mentioned. More time on his mental health would have meant a bit more to me even though we know his found family was there the whole time.
I will say this, I really love Shipwreck. I love it so much. It’s my happy place and I’m glad we got to visit it again.
