Her captain is a Tartar, liberal with the cat, who thinks girls have no place aboard ship. Horacio Hornblower in space with a strong female lead character

Read or listen to this series. There’s enough science fiction to make it new and interesting, while the naval characters and lifestyle feels right. As a former Navy officer I have especially enjoyed reading the adventures of a strong, confident, and honest leader who happens to be a teenage girl at the beginning of the series.
