Can you imagine writing to Father Christmas and actually getting a reply? Every year, the children of J.R.R. Tolkien would write to Father Christmas, and the letters they received told wonderful stories of his adventures at the North Pole. These humorous tales are brought to life by Derek Jacobi as Father Christmas, John Moffatt as Polar Bear, and Christian Rodska as Ilbereth the Elf, complete with specially composed music.

Perfect listen!

This was a perfect listen. It was heartwarming and made me smile the entire time. Tolkien proves that he is not just good at writing fantasy but also good with children’s letters and stories as well. Beautiful!

When a novel like Huckleberry Finn or The Yearling comes along, it defies customary adjectives because of the intensity of the response it evokes in the reader. Such a tale is Old Yeller; to listen to this eloquently simply story of a boy and his dog in the Texas hill country is an unforgettable and deeply moving experience.

Historia
The Tower of Babel is the greatest marvel in the world. Immense as a mountain, the ancient Tower holds unnumbered ringdoms, warring and peaceful, stacked one on the other like the layers of a cake. It is a world of geniuses and tyrants, of airships and steam engines, of unusual animals and mysterious machines. Soon after arriving for his honeymoon at the Tower, the mild-mannered headmaster of a small village school, Thomas Senlin, gets separated from his wife, Marya, in the overwhelming swarm of tourists, residents, and miscreants.

Eeessshhhh....This was just bad. The Characters, the story. The author portrayed straight white males ; as wife beaters, swindlers and just vile beings. I don’t like to read about man bashing. The narrator was the best part. Not my cup of tea.

Historia
Boisterous, ribald, and ultimately shattering, Ken Kesey's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest has left an indelible mark on the literature of our time. Turning conventional notions of sanity and insanity on their heads, the novel tells the unforgettable story of a mental ward and its inhabitants, especially tyrannical Big Nurse Ratched and Randle Patrick McMurphy, the brawling, fun-loving new inmate who resolves to oppose her.

Incredible!!
Revisado: 02-22-17
I decided last year in 2016 that I needed to read/listen to more classics. I have never read this book so I tried it out. I was excited to know the actor John C. Reilly would be narrating it. John C. Reilly is a master. He brought the story to life. I honestly don't know if I would have given it five stars out of five stars if I read it on my own. He brings nurse ratchet and R.P McMurphy to life. This is now my favorite.

Cool name lousy story!
Revisado: 07-01-16
I'll start off with the narration. Tim Robbins although he has a very pleasing voice to listen to, at times over acted the scenes. I found the story itself to be greatly hyped. I was expecting something really different than what I got. I found the story and the plot to be disjointed and I never connected with the characters. I found this very self-indulgent.
