Well thought out. Not predictable . Messy like real life. Great characters you can really root for because they have courage and grit and guts

I have listened to over 1000 business, investing, marketing, leadership books, this is tied for the number one most influential one for my life.
On my podcast I have done over 950 interviews with billionaires including Richerd, unicorn tech founders , investors like the woman who run $6 trillion for blackrock, and 100% of of the highest tear of them this principal even if this isn't what they call it.

Everyone has their principles for their business and their industry.

For Warren Buffett it's compound interest in investing. The world is overflowing in investment advice and Warren ignores almost all of it and just lives the Benjamin Graham, Phil Fisher, Charlie Munger remix that has become his own.

But the way I observe each of the billionaires I've interviewed is they are doing the 8020 of the 8020 of the 8020 of their "sport".

They have developed incredible mastery at filtering the nuances amongst the mind numbing amount of signals to a few things that make all the difference.

I have had this book on repeat on my audible for years now trying to further reprogram my brain to quit looking at shiny objects and quietly, deeply get down to the incredibly tiny number of things that make the huge differences. I seriously cannot recommend this book enough

This book is vulnerable and filled with principles that everyone needs to be reminded of. It made me take such a deep inventory of my life. I’m so grateful for literature like this that opens the heart and the mind and makes us better people.

This book is super underrated. I have read over 850 business related books in the last dozen years and I have no idea why this one has not been discovered yet.

Here is the text I just sent to my buddy who is a marketing agency CEO about it:
“ I feel like she makes a great argument for rethinking content marketing from more of a Netflix style perspective of what is going to be effective in getting them hooked into one in consume everything you produce. She talks about what episode of a Netflix show tips people over the edge until they'll binge watch the whole season and how businesses can take that same philosophy. I also think that he has a great job at pushing us to hold ourselves to a higher standard of what we are putting out. Instead of competing with other businesses crappy content marketing, compete against the entertainment industry. She also really emphasizes the points that Way too many businesses have disparate content production and it doesn't feel cohesive to
Consumers. It makes us look schizophrenic. So she talks about how to sell multiple products and talk about multiple subjects but not have it feel so random, which as a result would help people want to start consuming everything you produce.”

Anyway I’m obviously a fan and would recommend it to anybody who is serious about creating content that’s on the next level and attracts a loyal audience

I have listened to maybe 1100 audiobooks and this one is in the very top percentage of my favorite books.

Walt brings such an authenticity and radical self honesty that really made me want to take a look in the mirror at my own leadership blindspots.

I was expecting a good book but this one was exceptional. When he first became CEO their stock price had shrunk down to a market cap of $500 million, and about four years later he built it back up and done a successful merger getting their market cap to something like $50 billion. Normally that leads to a book with a lot of self congratulation about how smart they are, instead Walt is super open about the fears and insecurities he has had as a leader and the lessons he learned while working a summer job on a garbage truck.

The book is full of the timeless lessons about overcoming self focus and caring about others as a path to success, and as a leader the companies I own I felt like this was a big reminder of the lessons we all grew up with, but from somebody who was setting the example instead of just saying “you should”.
