A Pure Pleasure
Revisado: 11-08-23
A honest and informative insight into the life of a supremely talented women - an actor, a singer, a director, a producer, a sound engineer - as I listened to the book, I kept stopping to look up movies and play songs that were mentioned - Her memories are related with just enough detail to enjoy and understand them without bogging the reader down in unnecessary details. The book keeps moving along at a good pace. I did increase the reading speed by 25%. Barbra - thank you so much for being so generous with your life details and your feelings. I listen to hundreds of books a year and this one is my favorite for 2023 so far.

Revisado: 06-02-21
I love Stone Barrington and Teddy Fey books but this one is very confusing. There are a zillion characters and although I have started this book 3 times, I cannot understand the plot - characters like Lance Cabot and Millie just appear and disappear - there is no description of where they are and how it looks. I am not sure I will finish it as I still don't get how it fits toggether in the beginning so although I am listening and understand, I can't place the action in any framework., Sorry.

Heroine Hard to Like or Believe
Revisado: 04-20-17
Would you try another book from Robyn Carr and/or Therese Plummer?
Yes
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
Not a surprise
Which scene was your favorite?
There was not one that stood out
Did Any Day Now inspire you to do anything?
No
Any additional comments?
This story is interesting but the main character makes such bad decisions for no good reasons and is very hard to identify with or even sympathize with. I have listened to 42 other books by this author. I loved the Virgin River series and the Thunder Point series. They were full of place and character. One can usually believe the characters act they way they do because their behaviors and decisions are based on their well described personalities. Although well written, this book is very surface (more than usual). I rated it a 3 star because it does have a cohesive story but it is not a story which I enjoyed very much. Sorry.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Although I love the Lincoln Rhymes series, I somehow missed book 2 and noticed it was available on Audible so I bought it without reading the reviews. The narrator of this book makes the women sound like airheads from with southern accents...they sound ridiculous - I almost cannot listen to Percy.
What other book might you compare The Coffin Dancer to and why?
Do not know yet
What didn’t you like about Jeff Harding’s performance?
Male voices are fine and well done
Was The Coffin Dancer worth the listening time?
Not sure yet - still trying to accept the narrator.

Interesting and Appealing
Revisado: 02-04-17
Would you consider the audio edition of But Enough About Me to be better than the print version?
Yes the audio version of the book is better than the print version because it is read by Burt Reynolds who although his voice can be scratchy brings reality to every story. I really enjoyed it.
What did you like best about this story?
Hearing about all the people Burt was friends with and worked with.
Which character – as performed by Burt Reynolds – was your favorite?
Himself
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The last few sentences. He really meant them.
Any additional comments?
The audio has some scratchy sounding places but it is not enough to detract from the story. You can tell where Burt would leave off and begin another time as the strength of his voice changes - also not enough to detract. The volume varied in places and was overall really low. But through it all the book is very enjoyable making Hollywood and movie making more accessible to everyone. I listened to it straight through.

Names Difficult
Revisado: 10-27-14
Where does The Redbreast rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I rank this 4 out of 5. I intend to read the whole series (no pun intended). This was a good story although it was hard to follow because to the American ear (at least to mine), the last names all sounded the same. I found I had to write them down and refer to a spreadsheet until I understood who was who.

Narrator problem
Revisado: 01-21-13
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Although I really like these psychic eye stories, the narrator has an annoying prnounciation problem. She frequestly ends past tense verbs with a t instead of a d pronoucing words like want-ed as want-it and boot-ed as boot-it.
She also leaves the g off of participles pronoucing making as makin .
These errors occur in groups making me assume that it may happen when she gets tired.
I think professional narrators should not make this kind of mistake.

Historia
In a case that spans 20 years, Harry Bosch links the bullet from a recent crime to a file from 1992, the killing of a young female photographer during the L.A. riots. Harry originally investigated the murder, but it was then handed off to the Riot Crimes Task Force and never solved. Now Bosch's ballistics match indicates that her death was not random violence, but something more personal, and connected to a deeper intrigue. Like an investigator combing through the wreckage after a plane crash, Bosch searches for the "black box", the one piece of evidence that will pull the case together.

Too Much Background Not Enough NOW
Revisado: 11-26-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I am three hours into this and am finding it pretty boring...so far it is a lot of background and the narrator is not interesting...I miss the usual narrators A LOT...
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The least interesting - the narrator
Would you be willing to try another one of Michael McConnohie’s performances?
I have listened to every one and I am really disappointed in this one so far
Any additional comments?
sorry to be so negarive - I love Harry Bosch

Historia
When a hedge fund billionaire hires Stone Barrington to talk some sense into his wayward son, it seems like an easy enough job; no one knows the hidden sins and temptations of the ultra-wealthy better than Stone. But as Stone and his erstwhile protégé, Herbie Fisher, probe deeper into the case - and an old one comes back to haunt him - he realizes that even he may have underestimated just how far some people will go to cover up their crimes…and plan new ones.

Revisado: 04-19-12
I always look forward to new Stuart Woods books, particularly Stone Barrington books but lately they have not been as good. This story is not interesting. There are mutiple subplots that do not get woven together. The story is very predictable. Everything works perfectly for the main characters and gets done on a time scale that is impossible. There is no depth of feeling shown by any character and overall it is not very interesting to listen to. Sonte Barrington was almost a side character in the story and had little to add or perform. It's sad when one of your favorite authors and characters begins to wander off track.
