Eva’s voice and delivery is soothing and relaxing. I love how detailed the story is.

How this is even part of audible is beyond reason. It sounds like a robot is reading this, and it is both irritating and downright creepy. How slow and robotic the voice is!

It’s quite clear that the author of this book is not a seasoned writer, nor is she a professional narrator.

This reads like a failed Google translate - some sentences are absolute nonsense!? I don’t understand how this is even on Audible! “you can be stupid and it feels like you don’t know the maroon”- THAT is an example of what I just heard. It sounds like a machine putting words together.

I tried. I really did. But I could not get past the sarcastic, snarky tone Andi Arndt laid upon every. single. word. of the make character for reasons I will never understand.
Inflection can change the entire intent of a character and theme of a story. This felt as if I were listening to a one-sided, dysfunctional relationship. I was mentally rooting for her to find her dignity leave. At one point I turned it off completely but then I began to wonder if perhaps there would be some rhyme or reason he was being portrayed in such a grating manner. I dove back, hoping for some sweeping change in the character where the pointed, annoyed and arrogant tone of voice melted away in tandem with him letting go and allowing himself to fall in love in true romance style. Sigh. Nope. Right to the bitter end he was voiced as an emotional toothache.

This is the worst title I’ve ever (tried) to listen to.
Why does it sound like it’s being read by a computer? The delivery speeds up like a weird computer glitch.

I fully admit, I didn’t know what I was in for when I selected this title. Mental pictures of various sorted headlines and rag magazine covers sprang to mind. But something, perhaps a morbid curiosity, made me select this audiobook and I am ever grateful to have had the chance to hear it.

It is far deeper, revealing, insightful, and braver than I had ever expected it to be. I truly loved the fact that Demi Moore narrated it herself lending an extra facet to this gem. To hear her recount the joy as well as the pain of her life was riveting.

For me, the most unexpected and powerful part of this memoir would come from her relationship with her mother. She lays bare all of the pain, hope and healing out in such a personal, honest way that there were times I simply could not turn it off.

At the end of the book Demi talks about why she decided to create this memoir. One of the reasons being that while it was a very personal journey, she had a feeling that the themes within could resonate with others and her hope was that it might help someone else understand their own journey a bit better. Never in 1 million years would I have expected Demi Moore to give me such food for thought, understanding and dare I say a measure of peace in regards to my relationship with my own mother. And for that I say, thank you. Thank you Demi Moore for sharing so much of your life and your journey with us. While I can only speak for myself I know in my heart of hearts that this memoir, born out of every inch of your pain, pleasure, growth, love and loss will touch the lives of many.
