I wasn't sure how this would go with all the extra voices, but the whole thing was great.

Historia
In the Nevada desert, an experiment has gone horribly wrong. A cloud of nanoparticles (micro-robots) has escaped from the laboratory. This cloud is self-sustaining and self-reproducing. It is intelligent and learns from experience. For all practical purposes, it is alive. It has been programmed as a predator. It is evolving swiftly, becoming more deadly with each passing hour. Every attempt to destroy it has failed. And we are the prey.

Finished the story through determination
Revisado: 02-16-19
Wasn't a great story. It had elements that I liked, but it was just so so of a story. I thought about quitting on the book. When I was about to, there would be something that I thought "oh let's see what happens next.". After I finished the book, I just felt cheated out of the almost 13 hours I put into the story.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Shaky start but picks up to a frenzy finish
Revisado: 02-16-19
I really enjoyed The Martian so I grabbed this one. I enjoyed Roasrio Dawson's narration. The main character says she's not a very likable caring person and she's okay with that but also accepts that she is the cause for that. She knows she was an awful teenager and is now trying to make up for her mistakes, by doing the not so legal well thought of way. After I bought into her, I just rolled on her journey through the book. I would read it again.

Historia
Our universe is ruled by physics, and faster-than-light travel is not possible - until the discovery of The Flow, an extradimensional field we can access at certain points in space-time that transports us to other worlds, around other stars. Humanity flows away from Earth, into space, and in time forgets our home world and creates a new empire, the Interdependency, whose ethos requires that no one human outpost can survive without the others. It's a hedge against interstellar war - and a system of control for the rulers of the empire.

Like John Scalzi books - Big NO on this one
Revisado: 02-16-19
I jumped into this book thinking, yeah Scalzi/Wil Wheaton combo. Super large cast of characters and I just could not get into all the different things going on. After about an hour or two - I was done. Didn't care and wanted to give this book back!

Jake Sullivan is a licensed private eye with a seriously hardboiled attitude. He also possesses raw magical talent and the ability to make objects in his vicinity light as a feather or as heavy as depleted uranium, all with a magical thought. It's no wonder the G-men turn to Jake when they need someoneto go after a suspected killer who has been knocking off banks in a magic-enhanced crime spree.

Rough start but stand tough, it gets better
Revisado: 02-16-19
I was coming off a book, that I could not get into. Didn't make it halfway. Started this one and it seemed it was going to be the same. After a couple of chapters, I got into the storyline. It's a different type of story for an alternate timeline. You have Roaring 20's with Nazi's and people who have MAGIC abilities. Will get book 2.

Tim and his friends find out the hard way that you shouldn't question the game master, and you shouldn't make fun of his cape. One minute, they're drinking away the dreariness of their lives, escaping into a fantasy game and laughing their asses off. The next minute, they're in a horse-drawn cart surrounded by soldiers pointing crossbows at them.

Foul-mouthed Protagonists lets you root for no one
Revisado: 02-16-19
I hoped for a fun little tale of real players thrown into a fantasy world. The problem is one of the main characters is a total obnoxious jerk and his friends not much better. I listened and listened hoping that there would be a change, someone I could get behind. This was book 1 but I could care less about what happens to them. Would not recommend at all.

Since time immemorial the Spires have sheltered humanity, towering for miles over the mist-shrouded surface of the world. Within their halls aristocratic houses have ruled for generations, developing scientific marvels, fostering trade alliances, and building fleets of airships to keep the peace. Captain Grimm commands the merchant ship Predator. Fiercely loyal to Spire Albion, he has taken their side in the cold war with Spire Aurora, disrupting the enemy's shipping lines by attacking their cargo vessels.

Ugh, Six chapters in and I'm bored
Revisado: 10-19-18
I kept waiting for the book to get better. There was a brief battle and then all this backstory of characters. I couldn't get into. Will be returning the book. I loved Jim Butcher's supernatural detective books or the few I have read. Thought I would try this series. Nope. Not happening.

Historia
When Admiral William Halsey selected Destroyer Squadron 21 to lead his victorious ships into Tokyo Bay to accept the Japanese surrender, it was the most battle-hardened US naval squadron of the war. But it was not the squadron of ships that had accumulated such an inspiring résumé; it was the people serving aboard them. Through diaries, personal interviews with survivors, and letters written to and by the crews during the war, preeminent historian of the Pacific theater John Wukovits brings to life the human story of the squadron and its men.

My first non fiction audiobook - enjoyed it
Revisado: 04-13-18
I saw a few reviews of this book and hadn't heard of this story from this point of view and thought I would give it a try. It was entertaining and kept me interested in the book. Being that this was my first time for non-fiction audio, I got a little confused with some of the pacing of the book.
Several times we would be at a certain time and then progress through and all of sudden we are back again at the same time, same crew but a different view from another "character". I understand it had to be done that way at times, but I found myself wanting to move on to the next time frame just a little sooner.
Overall, I would recommend the book for anyone wanting to know more about the most decorated Destroyer Squadron of WWII.

Wished I could have seen the movie
Revisado: 04-13-18
I really enjoyed this performance with the cast and crew. I didn't read that this is the whole book and then after it's over - you get to hear it again but now in a "live" setting. Just highlights from the book. So now you have a laugh track. I listened to it, cover to cover so to speak. It was funny hearing a few miscues and the actors get cracked up.
It's a great performance. The story - it's odd. It's like Smokey and the Bandit, but you have a Chimp thrown in - that "eats face" of a couple of victims. Weird huh. Yeah, doesn't slow the story down or really needed at all - it's just yeah that happen and now let's go do this thing.
