Drowning in oblivion, sadly
Revisado: 09-03-24
It was sad to listen to him confident of his friends like the osraeli counterpart, while they’re fooling him. It was sad to see him mixing his beliefs with his professional relationships. It was hard to complete the book, but I unfortunately did finish it. A story of an oblivious person.

The professor is articulate, engaging, and his voice is pleasant over long periods of listening- the last point is important.
Also, he’s neutral, not EU-brainwashed nor pushing for agenda.

That’s how an audio book should be read
Revisado: 03-26-22
Her storytelling skills are apparent in the way she reads. Never enjoyed listening to an audio book like this. Even the Great Courses series, which is intended to be native-audio are not in par with this professional delivery and perfect tone for each sentence.

How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Misleading title: not talking to but judging
Revisado: 03-19-22
The book is about how prejudice is bad in conducting work, but it’s beneficial to act upon in terms of extra scrutiny and screening in areas where an issue is infested and needs control.
Example of bad prejudice: SEC not seeing the flags against Madoff given his credible profile, but a brave whistleblower did not default to that conveyed demeanor and scrutinized further.
Example of good prejudice: Police were instructed to practice prejudgement in a specific crime-infested neighborhood in terms of stopping and interrogating. Result: lowering crime by 50% in that area without an increase elsewhere, and policymakers could avoid blanket policies and turn to targeted for better results without harming many innocent people.
Verdict:
I liked the insight. It could’ve been 50% shorter.
The book uses podcast-production style, which is nice. But did not use podcast editing.
That said,
I understand puffing the book so publishers accept it within their illogical market criteria.
I didn’t like the prolonged overly dramatized stories, some bored me to death that I skipped and forwarded.

Historia
Written by Naoki Higashida, a very smart, very self-aware, and very charming thirteen-year-old boy with autism, The Reason I Jumpis a one-of-a-kind memoir that demonstrates how an autistic mind thinks, feels, perceives, and responds in ways few of us can imagine. Parents and family members who never thought they could get inside the head of their autistic loved one at last have a way to break through to the curious, subtle, and complex life within.

eye-opener to an unknown nation
Revisado: 03-08-15
Finally, we found someone who could send us messages from inside the cage of his body, while most other people with autism couldn't. This came after an amazing amount of effort, time and energy.
I would like to point out that since people with autism have different skills, like the rest of us, please don't compare your loved one who has autism with naoki. Naoki apparently is talented in writing and articulating his opinions, other have different learning curve and talents.
Thanks to Naoki and his supportive team and to the mother who translated this book for the rest of the world.
The translation came after more than five years from the original book, which highlights the problem we still have in communicating our human knowledge in order to grow and accumulate for the greater good of the borderless humanity.
