In My Final Four Bracket...
Revisado: 02-24-15
If you could sum up The Providence of Fire in three words, what would they be?
Depth, Twists, Sweeping
What did you like best about this story?
The Character development continued through this second edition and the story lines just kept intertwining and throwing my curve balls. Hero's made mistakes, leaders are challenged, many characters contributed significantly to make or deviate the story line... this isn't you run of the mill good vs. evil story. I was taken by surprise with the first book and was secretly expecting a drop off from book 2... I was proven wrong. Simon Vance is perfect for this book reading. His rich textured voice really helps me picture the scenes and discern the different characters. One of my pet peeves is men trying to make their voice sound like a woman... I didn't even notice in this reading.
Which scene was your favorite?
When Adair's counsel-leach placed a ring of fire around the Exestreme's throat and Adair was forced to make a decision regarding his fate.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book brought out many emotions to include rooting for Valen and Calin... swinging between rooting for Adair to then questioning her decisions, hating the Star Island dwellers to feeling sorry for leach's.
Any additional comments?
Well worth the money.

Newcago is free. They told David it was impossible, that even the Reckoners had never killed a High Epic. Yet Steelheart - invincible, immortal, unconquerable - is dead. And he died by David's hand.Eliminating Steelheart was supposed to make life simpler. Instead, it only made David realize he has questions. Big ones. And no one in Newcago can give him answers.Babylon Restored, the city formerly known as the borough of Manhattan, has possibilities, though.

Great Family Read... not so much for adults
Revisado: 01-21-15
If you could sum up Firefight in three words, what would they be?
Surprisingly, I loved the first book. Equally surprising, I can't listen to anymore of the 2nd book for now. Highly recommend for children. The pseudo-teen love story overshadows the first part of the book. I really grew bored and sometimes frustrated with the overuse of references to the main characters fascination with "metaphors"... over baked!
What did you like best about this story?
I still think this is a good story and our superhero genre needs modern day infusion.
Which scene was your favorite?
Any scene where there isn't a reference to a metaphor or where the teens are playing at love.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A New Super-Hero Generation
Any additional comments?
Highly recommend for children and young adults under 18.

compelling
Revisado: 10-22-14
Where does The Lost Fleet: Fearless rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The Lost Fleet series has a good selection of well developed characters and a compelling story line. I like the way everything does not always go Black Jack's way... he must overcome challenges and deal with people who do not necessarily trust him... yet.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Lost Fleet: Fearless?
When the rogue ships from the fleet had to come limping back to Black Jack.
What does Christian Rummel and Jack Campbell bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
they bring attitude... I might not get that if reading.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Black Jack is back.

great story line
Any additional comments?
I don't like super hero stories... too hard to suspend reality. However, this was a great story and I bought into the story and really enjoyed the book.

Love Story On The Battlefield?
Revisado: 03-05-14
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
No
Any additional comments?
I like the story but his character development is a bit hard to believe. The main character goes from being a teacher to a ruthless disciplinarian and it seems a bit out of character. More disturbing is the fact that he is the only soldier with a girlfriend along for the ride... the "love story", IMO, detracts from the main story and is just plain silly.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Looking Forward to Book 2!
Revisado: 12-23-10
It has now been some time since I listened to WOK and I wanted to take the time to say I enjoyed the read/listen. I like the style of weaving together different characters and scenes, past & present toward an inevitable merger. I liked the characters and appreciated author taking the time to integrate their weaknesses into the story. So many fantasy novels use simple hero characters... this was refreshing. Many story lines and subplots.... a book with depth. I liked the narration by Reading and Kramer. At first it was a bit disconcerting getting used to the different voices when speaking of same character but I got over it and accepted the oddity before it became a distraction. From a fantasy standpoint I thought there were some fresh ideas... a bit of a mixture of fantasy, sci-fi, action and intrigue.

The extermination of Earth is at hand. With his increasingly irrational leadership Basil Wenceslas, chairman of the Hansa, has driven humanity into a corner. His punitive treatment of the Hansa colonies and the Roamers, as well as his refusal to aid an embattled Theroc, have made enemies for the people of Earth.

Saga of Great Reads
Revisado: 04-30-10
The Saga of Seven Suns, much to my surprise, produced equal to better books throughout the series. Usually, the 2nd, 3rd and beyond books don't measure up to the original. This series is an exception. Unexpectedly, the Saga of Seven Suns has become my favorite book series, one of my favorite science fiction stories. I really enjoy the narrator. He is consistent and doesn't over-act. Regarding this particular book... just another great read equal or better to the previous book in series.

"'You knew they were there, didn't you?' Kahlan asked in a hushed tone as she leaned closer. Against the darkening sky, she could just make out the shapes of three black-tipped races taking to wing, beginning their nightly hunt. That was why he'd stopped. That was what he'd been watching as the rest of them waited in uneasy silence."

The Naked Review
Revisado: 11-01-09
Again, This narrator is the worst. It's like listening to a toddler's bed time story. Additionally, I'm really getting tired of Richard and Khalin/Kallin. Thier love story is begining to make me roll my eyes. It doesn't add to the story. The fighting, or strategy in this book was more fantasy than people having magic! Giving this 3 stars is Good-Kindness on my part. If I get a great deal... I may read book 9.
