Detailed, entertaining, and highly balanced.
On the other hand, it meticulously and unequivocally shows how the world has shifted into power-only games where most values and ethics are largely ignored by dominating powers.

Historia
In the past five years, Israel has mounted three major assaults on the 1.8 million Palestinians trapped behind its blockade of the Gaza Strip. Taken together, Operation Cast Lead (2008-9), Operation Pillar of Defense (2012), and Operation Protective Edge (2014) have resulted in the deaths of some 3,700 Palestinians. Meanwhile a total of 90 Israelis were killed in the invasions. On the face of it, this succession of vastly disproportionate attacks has often seemed frenzied and pathological.

Although the author is Jewish, he proved to be a respectful, unbiased, researcher who invested much authentic effort to help uncovering the misery the Palestinians are exposed to for more than half a century and the severe lies of the Israeli propaganda machine!

Decades before the American Revolution, Benjamin Franklin lamented that English settlers were constantly fleeing over to the Indians - but Indians almost never did the same. Tribal society has been exerting an almost gravitational pull on Westerners for hundreds of years, and the reason lies deep in our evolutionary past as a communal species. The most recent example of that attraction is combat veterans who come home to find themselves missing the incredibly intimate bonds of platoon life.

Highly Full of Bias and Prejudice!
Revisado: 11-03-18
This book unjustifiably pictured Muslims throughout their entire history as bloody, barbarian, savages, who only aim to kill innocent people and destroy civilizations.
Of course, there have been mistakes and atrocities committed by some Muslim warriors.
However, those mistakes and atrocities do not come even close to the multitude of bloody and exterminating wars waged by crusaders and other conquerors belonging to the world powers throughout history.
On the other hand, Muslims' great preservation and advancement of Greek and Roman sciences hugely contributed to the European Renaissance.
However, this blind author opted, knowingly or otherwise, to overlook all that altogether.

Horrible, Biased, and Full of Lies!
Revisado: 07-21-18
This book is one of the worst books I've ever come across, if not the worst ever.
Full of lies, distortions, misuse of information, and misinterpretations!
The author is either severely shallow and misinformed, or horribly blinded by her unethical biases.
She pictured the first, most pure and selfless, generation of Muslims as thieves, cheaters, and killers who were driven only by their earthly desires, personal egos, and ill motivations!
She sets the stage for the history events as per her misguided, misinformed, and biased visualization and then uses faked and inauthentic citations and records to validate her prejudices and blind pre-judgements!
Furthermore, she blows her faked stories out of any meaningful proportions and severely over-dramatize them to misguide her audience and drag them into where she can dose them further with her venoms.
Obviously, the author doesn't have any clue about the difference between authentic and faked "Hadiths" nor she tries to be balanced or technically professional in her analyses and conclusions.
I'm really surprised and disappointed that such poor and misguided authors can convince a publisher to get such horrible books onto the literature stage!

Very Inspiring!

This audio book is among the most inspiring books I ever listened to.
The story is extracted from the most trusted sources and, hence, authenticity of most of its contents is unquestionable.
One must admit upon listening to the story that it represents the truth about the life and struggle of the Prophet Muhammad.
I will be very surprised if anyone will not embrace Islam after he/she fully and open-mindedly listens to this gripping story!

Historia
In this definitive history of the modern Arab world, award-winning historian Eugene Rogan draws extensively on Arab sources and texts to place the Arab experience in its crucial historical context for the first time. Tracing five centuries of Arab history, Rogan reveals that there was an age when the Arabs set the rules for the rest of the world. Today, however, the Arab world's sense of subjection to external powers carries vast consequences for both the region and Westerners who attempt to control it.

Book Reviews
This book is among the few books written by westerners that struggled to remain neutral and tried hard to deeply and thoroughly understand the intricacies and interdependence of the events covered.
The overwhelming conclusion that one inevitably reaches when listening to the book's analyses and narrations is that the only real change motive in this world is greed, control of super powers, and bloody selfishness!
Strong nations divide and rule the other, less powerful, nations regardless of whatever the consequences might be.
Civilizations are destroyed under the claim of defending civilization, millions of people are killed under the claim of saving human lives, and bloody enslavement is imposed under the claim of spreading freedom!

Best Evidence on Crimes of RAND and the New Cons.
Revisado: 01-24-18
The author did a marvelous job on analyzing the history, motives, and outcomes of this bloody, unethical, and hugely destructive organization.
It is so shocking and extremely frightening to know that most of the American bloody wars and arrogant global policing were envisioned, shaped, and falsely justified by RAND.
The irony is that they put all that under the glossy cover of what they say "American Values", which they consistently insisted that it must be imposed globally, even by force and even if that would require and imply the annihilation of entire nations, cultures, and races.
The pressing question is: what is the difference between the motives, justifications, and outcomes of this group of criminals and those of the Nazis?!

Full of lies, stereotypes, and prejudice!
Revisado: 01-02-18
When I listened to the author's introduction, I felt very excited as he gave me the impression that he will treat the subject with genuine neutrality and employ an authentic, evidence-based research.
However, when I started listening to his narrations and conclusions, I got shocked at how immense was his prejudice, bias, and technical shallowness.
This author have constructed in his mind a certain view and then started twisting all the historical and cultural facts to align with his predetermined views and/or the stereotypical claims of other biased Western writers.
In fact, the poor guy went beyond twisting facts and ended up in many occasions employing lies to substantiate his ill-constructed views. And when realized that twisting facts and using lies wouldn't work, he tended to invent something and say, without any supporting evidence, that it must have been so and so!
Among many such examples, I captured on the fly the following few just for illustration:
1. While more authentic researchers proved that early Muslim conquests were the most merciful and tolerating in history (e.g. Gustave Le Bon and Annemarie Schimmel), he plotted those conquests as if they were the bloodiest and most savage in history. In other words, he unfairly plotted Islam and Muslims as barbarian, ruthless, invasion force that recklessly destroyed cities and civilizations as if he was describing Spanish when they exterminated Indigenous Americans, Western Allies when they fully and unjustifiably destroyed Dresden in WW-II, or Americans when they burned to ashes helpless children and women in Hiroshima and Nagasaki!
With this stereotypical blindness, he claimed without any sound evidence that Muslims destroyed all the golden civilizations of the central Asia, enslaved the nations, and prohibited people from thinking or performing their normal life activities.
I know that one may cite ISIS or Taliban but this is most prejudice as these never represented real Isalam and Muslims. Fair people know that ISIS killed more of innocent Muslims than they killed from any other people!
2. He affirmed that the Barmaks came from a Buddhist family while they desended from a Zoroastrian origin and have never been Buddhists. Furthermore, to deprive Arab leadership from any civilized contribution, he claimed without clear evidence that it was these Barmaks who initiated and sponsored the translation wave during the Abbasid period!
3. With extraordinary naivety and blind subjectivity, he claimed that Muslim women is prohibited from learning in order to prevent her from communicating with foreigners! No single word in Qur'an or the teachings of Prophet Mohammad prevents women from learning. In fact, Islamic formal teachings very well encourage both genders to equally learn and seek knowledge! There is an infinite difference between the advice to Muslim women to maintain modesty and the false stereotypical claims that she is always imprisoned and prevented from learning.
4. Instead of being more balanced in his views, he attributed most of the civilized advances in science and technology to ethnicity and/or geography. In this regard, he forgot that it was the Islamic overall civilized environment that furnished the ground for all fields of knowledge to grow and flourish. When people talk about the American present advancement of science and technology, they praise the overall American encouraging and supportive environment. They don't attribute it to the multitude of scientists and engineers emigrating from all around the globe.
5. He claimed that mainstream Muslim scholars almost prohibited people from challenging Buhkari, forgetting, or intentionally hiding the truth about the severe and meticulous challenge that many of those scholars exposed Bukhari's work to in order to find any real technical flaws in his famous book. True that they concluded that it is most reliable and authentic but all that was after they concluded their comprehensive challenge to Bukhari.
6. He incorrectly defined key terminologies such as Qassidah and Rabat and many more.
In conclusion, not worth your money and time if you are looking for a neutral, technically correct story.

Good Overall Despite Some Mistakes and Bias
Revisado: 12-07-17
Provides good overview spanning politics, religion, culture, arts, and more.
Smong of the shortcomings that one may observe are the following:
1. Some historical events are not presented accurately. For example, the author stated that the Fatimis established their state in Egypt and then expanded westward into western north Africa while they in fact established themselves in Morocco and then moved much later into Egypt. It appears to me that this is attributed to ignoring Arabic reference materials which are very essential for studying the history of Spain and North Africa.
2. While Spanish history is always linked to the famous bloody Inquisition, especially for Muslims, the author opted to skim lightly through it. In fact, her short highlight of the subject is almost limited to the treatment of the Jews.
