Historia
There’s more to the swamplands than meets the teeth. In this supernatural tale of magic and mysticism, Henry Lemarchand grew up in Philadelphia knowing very little of his family—his father disappeared when he was young, leaving behind only a strange pouch of animal teeth. When he is sent to the Louisiana bayou to spend the summer with his eccentric uncle and cousin in their decaying ancestral mansion, Henry learns about his family’s supernatural legacy.

Anne Glenconner reveals the real events behind The Crown as well as her own life of drama, tragedy and courage, with the wonderful wit and extraordinary resilience which define her. Anne Glenconner has been close to the Royal Family since childhood. Eldest child of the 5th Earl of Leicester, she was, as a daughter, described as 'the greatest disappointment' by her family as she was unable to inherit. Her childhood home, Holkham Hall, is one of the grandest estates in England. Bordering Sandringham, the Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret were frequent playmates.

Historia
This live performance of a powerful police procedural comes to life through the artistry of Celeste Lecesne and is accompanied by the original music of Duncan Sheik. Celeste portrays every character in a small Jersey Shore town as they unravel the story of Leonard Pelkey, a tenaciously optimistic and flamboyant 14-year-old boy who has gone missing. A luminous force of nature whose magic is only truly felt once he is gone, Leonard becomes an unexpected inspiration as the town’s citizens question how they live, who they love, and what they leave behind.

What a beautiful reminder
Revisado: 10-11-19
It’s been a long time since I cried and laughed simultaneously. This is one of the best fiction audible originals so far. A bit melodramatic, but such a beautiful story with an impressive and hilarious performance. Having been a bit of a (less fabulous) Leonard myself it certainly hit home, and led to floods of tears whilst driving. I am certainly going to remember the moral of this story.

Incredible story, great performance
Revisado: 09-19-19
I’d already read the paperback, and thought it was the best book I’d read all year- now that I’ve listened to the audiobook I can honestly say it’s one of the best audio performances as well. David is amazing as Patroclus, and brings the story to life- will probably listen to it again right away!

Different enough to stand alone, but the same delight to hear
Revisado: 10-11-18
I loved “the Gentleman’s Guide” and couldn’t wait for the second book. It took me a while to adjust to a story about Felicity (after falling so deeply in love with Monty and Percy) but very quickly was drawn in and didn’t mind anymore.
Yes, I missed the sexual tension between the boys, but the new adventure story (similar story arc) had me hooked, and I finished it in no time flat. Hurrah to Mackenzi Lee and the ability to create such funny and meaningful characters. When is #3 coming out???

Wrongly cast narrator
Revisado: 09-20-18
Ug. I’d really liked Book one of this series, the narrator was wonderful and made the story and all of the characters come to life. I immediately downloaded Merlin without listening to the sample- huge mistake! He sounds like an out of work Shakespearean actor, and far too obnoxious to read a whole novel. What’s worse, his other characters were laughably bad- I could swear that the Hill folk were from China, and most other characters seemed to inexplicably have Indian accents. The book itself wasn’t as good as the first, but hard to tell with such a miscast voice as narrator. Get the hard copy instead!

A fantastic listen
Revisado: 08-19-18
I absolutely adored this book/audiobook. It popped up as a suggestion, I was intrigued and downloaded it. It’s been ages since I enjoyed both the story and the performance this much...I actually listened to it in one very long workday. Can’t recommend enough, and wished it were twice as long. Here’s hoping we hear further stories of dear Henry and Percy.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

Cracking novel
Revisado: 09-28-17
Can't tell you how addicted I was to this-
I'm an artist, so audiobooks are my savior...but this narrator is the best I've ever heard- believable and varied without being hokey.
A client had put me off the Goldfinch, after loving Secret History so much...but I decided to give it a try.
Jesus Mary and Joseph- so glad I did. What a phenomenal book, and what an amazing narrator. Literally surpassed any other sort of outside stimuli (books, tv, food) until it was finished. Wow- so impressed. Read. It. Now.
