Historia
If Betsy Taylor has learned anything about ruling hell, it's: 1) she can't do it alone, and 2) she doesn't have to. She's got the help of a devoted vampire king, a dateless zombie, an exhausted new mom, an unshowered cop, a bitchy ghost, a kindly dead priest, and her late stepmother ("go Team Satan!"). But the latest major hurdle in her postdead life is so big she can't even see it until it's on CNN. Betsy's father and half sister Laura (a former Antichrist with a grudge) have outed Betsy to the world.

White Privilege and Cognitive Dissonance
Revisado: 01-23-24
I used to like these books earlier in the series. Now, I'm completely irritated with the author's cognitive dissonance and harmful stereotypes of African Americans. Not to mention how she goes on to praise George Washington and totally dismiss that he and his mother owned hundreds of enslaved men, women and children. I find it odd that her character has a problem with George Washington's mother saying "Sodomite" but completely overlooks the fact she owned slaves and thus they both participated in the oppression, torture and killing of slaves. Even after George Washington waited until after his death to free his slaves, not all of them were able to go free. Guess that part of history is easier for some to overlook than others.

Hard to Understand
Revisado: 09-09-21
The narrators were extremely hard to understand when portraying some of the locals. The spoke to low and the accents that they tried to imitate made it difficult to even understand what they were saying. Other than that, I enjoyed the story.

Historia
It doesn't seem like the perfect house, but screw it, it's good enough to rent for a year. Unfortunately for Boyd, Adeline, and their two young daughters, it's immediately clear they chose the wrong place. The nightmare begins with violent coughs and headaches. Food starts to rot almost as soon as they take it inside. A pet tarantula goes missing. Some family members begin to exhibit creepy behavior. Then the ghosts arrive, and all hell breaks loose....

Stupid...
Revisado: 04-10-19
This book started off well then it became so awful I had to return it. The book switches from unnecessarily gory to completely stupid with each passing chapter. I will be sure to avoid this author at all costs.

The Shape of Water is set in Cold War-era Baltimore at the Occam Aerospace Research Center, which has recently received its most sensitive asset ever: an amphibious man captured in the Amazon. What unfolds is a stirring romance between the asset and one of the janitors on staff, a mute woman who uses sign language to communicate with the creature.

Soooo Disappointing!!!
Revisado: 05-04-18
I saw the movie first and this book down right irritates me!! The book spends more time on irrelevant characters (such as Laney and the antagonist David Strickland) then on Eliza and the asset. The book gives meaningless insight to insignificant characters. This takes up the majority of the book. I was hoping to gain more insight to Eliza and the asset’s relationship. Combine that with the overload of analogies and metaphors makes this book boring, hard to swallow and utterly disappointing.

Historia
In 1961, the small town of Haven thought they'd gotten rid of their monster. After a series of child killings, Paul Greymore was caught carrying a wounded girl. His face, disfigured from a childhood accident, seemed to confirm he was the monster the community hoped to banish. With Paul in prison, the killings stopped. For 17 years, Haven was peaceful again. But Paul served his time and has now returned to Haven - the town where he grew up, and the scene of his alleged crimes.

Depressing and Boring
Revisado: 04-11-18
The scariest thing about this book is......nothing. This book focuses more on the depressing lives of its characters or acts of random violence. I couldn’t connect with hardly any of the characters. The author tried harder to make his readers feel depressed than scared or even interested. Despite the parts with the monster (and there were not many) acts of violence and depressing storyline I was bored throughout this book. I returned it and I feel like I just wasted a part of my life on this thing.

Historia
It was only supposed to be a game. In a boring suburb, three lonely men seeking distractions from their monotonous routines get together in an abandoned house to play a macabre game of show-and-tell. Nothing is off-limits in their little circle - anything, no matter how depraved, is welcome...so long as it's frightening. But when one member brings what sounds like an audio recording of an actual murder to a meeting, featuring the tortured screams and pleas of an anonymous woman, the jaded club members find themselves truly rattled.

Not a fan
Revisado: 02-04-18
I’m normally a fan of Ambrose Ibsen but I feel like this book was lacking in many areas. The characters were not well developed. The plot needed improvement and the history behind the monster and the house were poorly explained. Also, the narrator’s voice was monotonous, which made it difficult for me to appreciate the story.

Historia
Hovern Bog. People live in terror of it - especially the residents of Fenchurch St. Jude, the little village located at its edge. They think of it as a living being. When 2,000-year-old bodies are recovered from the bog, perfectly preserved, it is the discovery of a lifetime for archaeologist David Macauley. But close examination of the corpses reveals a curious fact: all were cruelly, mysteriously murdered, gnawed to death by some unimaginable creature.

Meh....
Revisado: 08-19-17
This story was more of a comedy than a scary novel. Many parts of the storyline made very little sense and the author failed to answer numerous questions at the end. To add insult to injury, one of the main antagonists in the story were "demonic, man-eating goats"......and yes, it is as ridiculous as it sounds. I would not recommend this book to anyone.

I want my money back!
Revisado: 07-13-17
The best thing about this story was the narrator's performance. Many trivial things were over-explained by the author but the information crucial to the story line at the end was left out. I stuck through this book because I thought it would get better. It didn't. So now, I want my money back.
