Historia
It Worked for Me is filled with vivid experiences and lessons learned that have shaped the legendary career of the four-star general and former Secretary of State Colin Powell. At its heart are Powell's "Thirteen Rules" - such as "Get mad, then get over it" and "Share credit" - that introduce his principles for effective leadership: conviction, hard work, and, above all, respect for others. A natural storyteller, Powell offers warm and engaging parables with wise advice on succeeding in the workplace and beyond.

A leader's handbook for life... and... Fascinating to gain the perspective from the inside of news we only thought we fully knew
Revisado: 12-28-24
I always had great respect for the author for his integrity and honest ways. This is an outstanding enduring gem of wisdom. Politics are not part of my life, so it's especially remarkable that many of these accounts quite changed things I thought I knew for decades. Like a fireside chat of wisdom with a wise uncle. So down to earth. Fascinating glimpses to a world beyond our view, moving back the curtain with insight, discernment and kindness, on so much we thought we had the whole picture on. It gave me a completely new angle on certain people, events and issues I had only heard media reports of, which I now realize were -at best- incomplete. Excellent advice for leaders, parents, person in business - for handling life, leadership, success and achievement and navigating the special challenges even these can bring.

Typical Agatha Christie stories, but I was very disappointed to see that the book has been switched out for a different narrator. Joan is Miss Marple.

Overwhelmed, It really works!
Revisado: 09-17-22
There are some excellent books but this surprised me as one of the best I've ever read. This really works - for everyone, even those who feel too hopeless to even start. The author uncovers blocks that we may not have considered, turns the overwhelm into clear, simple, gentle steps - starting from the very beginning. The author breaks the unmanageable into clear satisfying help to get going, A helping hand for those feeling hopeless, the how to start, how to keep going, complete the task in a few simple steps and how to make the progress stay. Excellent! A valuable resource, with very pleasant narration.

Clear, easy, complete info, calm pleasant narration
Revisado: 04-13-20
Very balanced whole-picture info, clearly explained. The beautiful clear and pleasant voice makes a stressful subject easy to listen to, even when listening several times as should be done before making such a weighty decision. It compares the various types but even other alternatives as well that can be considered also. Listening for a dear elderly friend facing this decision, it's the first book I've found that is so complete, clearly explained and understandable that I will play it aloud directly with her. The kind gentle voice makes a difficult subject both easy to understand and to listen to.
