Historia
The Courage to Be Disliked, already an enormous best seller in Asia with more than 3.5 million copies sold, demonstrates how to unlock the power within yourself to be the person you truly want to be. Using the theories of Alfred Adler, one of the three giants of 20th-century psychology, The Courage to Be Disliked follows an illuminating conversation between a philosopher and a young man. The philosopher explains to his pupil how each of us is able to determine our own life, free from the shackles of past experiences, doubts, and the expectations of others.

Not really secrets
Revisado: 01-20-24
It wasn't for me. It didn't give me any new insights that I hadn't already learned as someone into creative arts. If you have never had any type of art class, you may find the meanings and origins of color interesting, it just wasn't anything new or secret. The narrator has a lovely, upbeat voice though.

Couldn't finish it
Revisado: 11-11-23
I'm sure she is a great at what she does, marketing-wise, but i just felt like i was not learning anything useful as a small business owner. I tried to return but couldn't.
Her stories were the main focus, but as another marketing author (that I admire) points out, the story's hero should be the customer, otherwise it just keeps you wondering, so whats in it for me?
Thats my opinion, though she seems like a very upbeat personality which is a positive aspect.

too long
Revisado: 08-02-23
I made it to the 14th chapter and finally threw in the towel. I probably should have started in a later chapter to get through more of it. My personal takeaway from this is that there's no one thing that truly keeps us from conditions like heart disease. Obviously there are a combination of things, though I don't really feel like I learned what that is for my body, even after listening to many hours of this book. It did reiterate that yoga, because of its combination of breathing, stability, and strength exercises is good for you, though he seems against yoga because it's too "vague " for him. My guess is just writing about that would greatly condense his long, deep dives into minutiae. Felt like a lot of my time was wasted on listening to a book that didn't really offer any real solutions.

translation words were off from English words
Revisado: 07-22-23
the English words were said, then the French translation would be for the English words that were about 2 words previously stated. So it didn't match up. pretty bad way to learn a new language.

Historia
From colorful 30,000-year-old threads found on the floor of a Georgian cave to the Indian calicoes that sparked the Industrial Revolution, The Golden Thread weaves an illuminating story of human ingenuity. Design journalist Kassia St. Clair guides us through the technological advancements and cultural customs that would redefine human civilization - from the fabric that allowed mankind to achieve extraordinary things (traverse the oceans and shatter athletic records) and survive in unlikely places (outer space and the South Pole).

not really about actual textiles
Revisado: 02-15-23
I thought it was going to go over textiles in history,. It spoke more about irrelevant stories with specific clothing pieces rather than an overview. I also found these stories pretty depressing. I understand many facets of textile production are involved with social injustices, but that's not what I was hoping to hear about. If you want to simply learn about how different textiles are made and how they came into fashion, this is not that book.

Historia
Every moment in our life happens only once, and if we let it slip away, we lose it forever - an idea captured by the Japanese phrase ichigo ichie (pronounced itchy-GO itchy-A). Often spoken in Japan when greeting someone or saying goodbye, to convey that the encounter is unique and special, it is a tenet of Zen Buddhism and is attributed to a 16th-century master of the Japanese tea ceremony, or "ceremony of attention", whose intricate rituals compel us to focus on the present moment.

embrace the moment
Revisado: 11-15-22
Everything in life is fleeting, so it's important to take a breath and commit unique moments to memory. Sometimes I get busy and lose sight of this, so I listen to this book and others like it to remind myself. I'm on my second listen with this book, it has delightful stories that back up ichigo ichie concepts and great narration.
