Historia
Lina Ragelis prides herself on her bravery and strength, two traits that have served her well in her career in the US Army. Having been disconnected from her family since she turned eighteen, Lina has learned to rely solely on herself—and her slightly overbearing best friend—and she swears she prefers it that way. It's an easy lie for someone who has spent her entire life dodging love. Lina's pretty certain that she's damaged goods. But the truth is, she's the kind of person everyone wants in their corner, and the kind of woman many women want to love.

I loved the storyline
Revisado: 01-15-25
The characters were very well developed. The way that she handled the reactions of the main character to her situation was extremely well done. It was the first time I've listen to a book written by this author and I very much enjoyed her work. The narrator today wonderful job. I have since sought out other books by this author and by this narrator. It has been added to my favorites.

Historia
Alex McHenry’s world stood still the day her father passed. She was 19, studying to be an art teacher, and living happily like any other college student. Then abruptly, her life was reduced to funeral arrangements, depression, therapy, and the responsibility of caring for her mother, who retreated to the couch to take solace in the artificially cheerful hosts on the Home Shopping Network. After more than a year of living frozen in the moment of her father’s death, Alex decides to take the first steps out of her grief.

Great story no so great narration
Revisado: 12-13-24
I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. They were well developed and I enjoyed getting to know them. The narration was not very good. I liked the narrator's voice but she stopped and paused every couple of words instead of where pauses would have made sense. I almost couldn't finish the book because of it but pushed through and was more able to ignore the inappropriate pauses. I pushed through because I enjoyed the story so much.

Great story so so narration
Revisado: 12-13-24
I enjoyed the story but I find the narration to be difficult at times. I'm getting more used to the frequent pauses as I've listened to the other books that preceded this in the series. My biggest issue with this book is that the narrator mispronounces medical terms. If you're going to narrate a book that includes medical terminology you should put the effort into finding out the correct way to pronounce things before recording the book. As a medical professional it grated on my nerves.

New author to me and I loved it
Revisado: 08-05-24
The writing and narration were both very good. I loved the southern accent of one of the characters. It's a book about self doubt and hope and that the truth can prevail. It's my first book by this author but I've already obtained two more, one of which has the same narrator and the narrator for the other book is well known to me. Definitely one I'll listen to again!

Beware of the lack of Trigger Warning!
Revisado: 12-05-23
I was very much enjoying the book and looking forward to the rest of this series until there was a graphic rape scene without any trigger warning. In this day and age there is absolutely no reason to not put in a trigger warning! I guess I will have to return the rest of the series unfortunately. It's a shame because I usually very much enjoy her work!

Half a million dollars will be Celeste Thorne’s reward for spending four years of her life in total isolation. No faces. No voices. No way to leave. Since Celeste has never really worried about being alone, the generous paycheck she’ll receive for her participation in the solitary psychological experiment seems like easy money. This book was a little slow to start for me but knowing how much I enjoy EJ Noyes' writing I kept listening. I'm really glad I did. Once it pulled me in I enjoyed it and found that it evoked some powerful emotions. There were twists and turns that I didn't expect. Abby Craden was wonderful as always.

Suspense and romance rolled into one
Revisado: 04-15-23
This is my first book by this author but it certainly will not be my last. It was not my normal genre but it was such a good book that I will be looking into more of this author's work and this genre. I normally only listen to books when I am driving yet this one I couldn't put down. I loved the storyline. The characters pulled me in. They wereintriguing, well written and well-developed. I would love to hear more about Andrea and Cameron's adventures. The ending allows for that possibility but it is also a satisfactory ending in and of itself. The narration was top-notch as are all of Abby Craden's work. I very highly recommend this book!

Rebecca Keane has it all figured out. With a successful career as an Army surgeon and a fresh promotion to lieutenant colonel, she loves her life leading a surgical team. Even if that life means she’s spent years hiding her sexuality and ignoring her desires under the Army’s "don’t ask, don’t tell" policy. Then Captain Sabine Fleischer’s arrival sets off an attraction that cracks Rebecca’s carefully cultivated armor and brings about fresh complications.

Historia
Captain Sabine Fleischer is a skilled and dedicated US Army surgeon deployed to a combat hospital in Afghanistan. She is also one of the thousands of troops who are forced to serve in silence because of the military's anti-gay policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT)". Usually driven and focused, Sabine finds that battles raging both inside and outside are making it more and more difficult for her to deal with her emotions. Dealing with loss and mortality, lack of privacy, sleep deprivation, loneliness, and the isolation forced on her by Don't Ask, Don't Tell are all taking their toll.
