Historia
In 1894, Leonarda Cianciulla was born into an abusive household. As a young girl, she attempted suicide twice. After decades of abuse, Leonarda sought stability and married Raffaele Pansardi. Her mother did not approve and conveyed her anger in the strongest possible sense. She cursed the marriage. Leonarda believed that her mother’s words had power and they haunted her. In 1939, Leonarda’s eldest son, Giuseppe, informed her that he was going to join the Army. She decided that the only way to protect him was through the most extreme means - human sacrifice.

I knew about the soap lady from some true crime show long ago, but that was ALL I knew. So, even if you heard about her, you’re probably going to love the book. Yes it’s a sad story, but it’s not gory or overly dramatic.

The BEST story ever
Revisado: 06-24-21
What can I say? The story was original. The voice actors were amazing (zoe Kazan ?? Come on) and creepy but not gory. Audible, you need to do more like this! Worth whatever it costs, credit or money.

Historia
Leonardo da Vinci created the two most famous paintings in history, The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. But in his own mind, he was just as much a man of science and engineering. With a passion that sometimes became obsessive, he pursued innovative studies of anatomy, fossils, birds, the heart, flying machines, botany, geology, and weaponry.

Amazing information about a very human genius
Revisado: 06-03-21
So much stuff.
I LOVED learning about Da Vinci’s humanness so much, I don’t feel like he did anything wrong or bad for his time period .. which brings up a whole other topic that goes into sociology and politics plus religion and sexuality. My mind is swimming with da Vinci knowledge plus all this other stuff now. And, being an artist, I feel a lot better about how long it takes me to complete a painting sometimes.
I’ll be listening to this many times.

If you like non gory, creative horror get this
Revisado: 01-23-21
I loved the imaginative story and dream like horror. Worth it.
It was sometimes a little bit gross (character wise) and I mean that in a good way too. Well done

Historia
In December 2017 the famous porn star August Ames committed suicide in a park in the Conejo Valley. It happened a day after she’d been the victim of a pile-on, via Twitter, by fellow porn professionals - punishment for her tweeting something deemed homophobic. A month later, August’s husband, Kevin, connected with Jon Ronson to tell the story of how Twitter bullying killed his wife. What neither Kevin nor Ronson realized was that Ronson would soon hear rumors and secrets hinting at a very different story - something mysterious and unexpected and terrible.

Delving into the effed up world of porn
Revisado: 05-21-20
It’s true that this seems like an easy group to exploit and sensationalize, and he did a little, but I still think it’s important to hear the truth about how mental illness runs rampant in that culture. It has to. And we all (non porn industry people or people who find porn distasteful) know it via common sense. Even tho I’m torn between wanting them to be free to do what they want, I definitely also think porn is harmful and too easy to get and ultimately making mental illness far worse. It’s not healthy or necessary, but should be labeled as extreme and unrealistic ... performance art? But I don’t think it is. This is a well told story of that issue and was at first biased but thankfully (hopefully) ended up with more empathy but still no solutions. This is a problem that the world needs to face. Not to make porn illegal but to figure out why so many kids and adults hold fame up at such a ridiculous level, that they would enter the pornography industry to achieve it.

It’s nothing new
Revisado: 03-25-20
I have heard it all before and was hoping for some new insight - Ted Bundy hid his real psychology from this man and so nothing can be taken as the whole truth. I wish they would have kept him alive bc he was willing to offer his true story up if they didn’t kill him and I happen to believe that he would have. What a bummer and a waste of potential learning.

Salem was a place near and dear to Jenna Duffy and Samuel Hall - it was where they'd met on a strange and sinister case. They never dreamed that they'd be called back. That history could repeat itself in a most macabre and terrifying fashion. But, then again, it was Salem at Halloween. Seasoned Krewe members, they still find themselves facing the unspeakable horrors in a desperate race to save each other - and perhaps even their very souls.
