Loved this book

Such a surprisingly sweet story. I really loved it. It had a fantastical element but otherwise felt so true to life. The characters were believable and entertaining

Not the best ...not the wor
Revisado: 08-03-21
I have been working my way through this series. I love good fantasy fiction and these books are so highly recommended. The storyline is strong but I am struggling with the writing... This is a weird conclusion since this is fantasy fiction, but I just don't find the characters believable. Believable characters are the mark of great fantasy writing and are missing from these books. Feyra was soul mates with Tamlin (she literally died for him) but after 3 months of being confined in a beautiful mansion with servants and every need met she feels like she is being abused. That was a real head scratcher... Also her backstory is not full of enough hardship to warrant the repeated reminder of how tough she had it in the human world. I find her character to be incredibly judgmental and unforgiving for someone who supposedly will bring the human and elf worlds together.
I like the world building and the story. But the characters just are not believable. We are dealing with 500-year-old elves who still blow raspberries at each other and flip each other off repeatedly... of course when I read any fantasy fiction about elves I am mentally comparing it to LOTR and I cannot picture Elrond or Galadriel behaving in the way that these elves do. These elves have lived centuries ,and I would assume should have accrued some wisdom, but they behave and talk like 16-year-olds which I find really bizarre.
Also, as many people have already commented on the sex scenes are so unnecessary and so over the top. All in all, the books are fine , but I think it's a shame, because they could have been great.

Men give their undivided attention to those who respect them. If a man doesn't feel respected communicating with you, he'll find the respect he needs elsewhere. The woman who knows how to communicate with men can influence the man she wants without resorting to "that mini-skirt he loves." A man craves the attention of a gracious woman who knows exactly what to say to him, when to say it, and most importantly, how to say it to get what SHE wants. Men love being gracefully influenced by the woman they adore.

awesome book for women living in the 1950s

ugh.... The book is so misogynistic. It would work well as a comedy. It made me cringe and then it just made me laugh.

Wonderful
Revisado: 07-10-17
This was one of those stories with characters that will stay with you for many years. It starts a bit slow, but stay with it and you'll be so glad you did. This book often brought tears to my eyes and I also laughed out loud at times. The part of the book where Eleanor is experiencing dancing for the first time is absolutely joyful. In the end, all I can say is , I have rarely rooted for anyone as much as I rooted for Eleanor Oliphant. Do yourself a favor and read this book.
