8 hours in and I give up
Revisado: 05-01-25
I only ever started listening to this book because I loved the Farseer Trilogy and it was insisted that I delve into the Liveship books for further Elderlings context later on.
8 hours in and I have thrown in the towel.
Firstly, that narrator. Do not listen to anything with her on it. If I could give zero stars, I would. You have to up the speed to 1.25x and even then, there is zero emotion, different pitches. The producers should hire Eric Michael Summerer or someone with talent.
The story is also nowhere near the Fitz orbit.
Nothing interesting has happened after this long. And I frankly do not like any of the characters.
No dragons thus far, either. So I have no motivation to keep going or ever go back to this, unless they re-record it with a great narrator.
Then maybe I would try again.
On to Tawny Man.

Historia
Charles Knight is released from an especially unpleasant stay in prison, only to rejoin a society overwhelmed by looting, riots, arson, viral panic, mob-think, and economic decay, with a presidential election in the balance. The cronies are in charge, abetted by their media lackeys and political puppets. They’ll do anything to get what they want.

Very frustrating entry to the series
Revisado: 06-17-24
As the review title suggests, this is not nearly as good of a book as Speculator or Drug Lord.
The main character is so indecisive and irrationally passive at times, even going on vacation while American schools are being shot up by deep state goons. Does he not care? These are kids ffs.
Then he comes back and wonders if he should take action against two ruthless guys, only to let them go and a few more horrific events happen.
This is not to mention why in heaven's name he let the main female antagonist go in a previous entry.
Also, too much time spent on technical jargon regarding crypto, as if any of it will matter when the CBDCs come and they are outlawed.
So in the end, we are below square one and I feel as though the last 20 some hours were a waste.
If there is a 4th entry, I don't think I am going to purchase it. That's how bad this one was.
But the narrator is very talented.

Dialogue between Skharr and Horse
Revisado: 02-07-24
The title is about all that happens in this title.
Very few characters return, not many developments, so much dialogue of Skharr talking to Horse and no one else.
I hope this is not the final book in the series because it was very underwhelming relative to the rest of the stories.
