Historia
In this brilliant biography T. J. Stiles offers a new understanding of the legendary outlaw Jesse James. Although he has often been portrayed as a Robin Hood of the old west, in this ground-breaking work Stiles places James within the context of the bloody conflicts of the Civil War to reveal a much more complicated and significant figure.

Well Written with Absolutely Terrible Conclusuons
Revisado: 09-22-24
The facts and the stories were articulated very well. The entire book was entertaining from beginning to end. The conclusions were just completely way off base. Anyone who reads and understands the facts of Missouri during that time period, understands exactly why they did what they did.

Terrible
Revisado: 10-16-22
What a terrible book! The good news is that the technology is nowhere close to being effective much less dangerous. There will definitely be some enhancements as cloud computing power gets better. There were some interesting topics that covered the different research activities, however this author has an obsession with communism that is nauseating. Don’t bother wasting your time.

Historia
The first vice president to become president on the death of the incumbent, John Tyler (1790-1862) was derided by critics as "His Accidency." In this biography of the 10th president, Edward P. Crapol challenges depictions of Tyler as a die-hard advocate of states' rights, limited government, and a strict interpretation of the Constitution. Instead, he argues, Tyler manipulated the Constitution to increase the executive power of the presidency. Crapol also highlights Tyler's faith in America's national destiny and his belief in boundless territorial expansion.

Wretched
Revisado: 08-25-22
Several interesting facts and direct quotes were presented. Those direct quotes were the only entertaining parts of the book. Nearly all of the text in between focused on the author’s wretched opinions about a great and noble man. President Tyler was the last of the founding Jeffersonian leaders, who were in hindsight, very wise to the tyranny of government. This book is yet another attempt to twist and revise historical truth. John Tyler was a hero to all but the wicked radicals during his time and is still revered today, despite the revisionist lies.

Here is a must-listen history of the Lone Star State, together with an insider's look at the people, politics, and events that have shaped Texas from the beginning right up to our days. Never before has the story been told with more vitality and immediacy. Fehrenbach re-creates the Texas saga from prehistory to the Spanish and French invasions to the heyday of the cotton and cattle empires. He dramatically describes the emergence of Texas as a republic, the vote for secession before the Civil War, and the state's readmission to the Union after the War.

From iconic books like Neuromancer to blockbuster films like The Matrix, virtual reality has long been hailed as the ultimate technology. But outside of a few research labs and military training facilities, this tantalizing vision of the future was nothing but science fiction. Until 2012, when Oculus founder Palmer Luckey - then just a rebellious teenage dreamer living alone in a camper trailer - invents a device that has the potential to change everything.

Great Story and Hard Truth
Revisado: 10-21-21
What a great story about a gamer legend. Also a lot of truth about the wretchedness of Facebook, democrats, and the media. Palmer Luckey was crucified simply for having a point of view that wasn’t in line with the extreme socialist agenda of big tech. Facebook succeeded in their scheme to take what he created and to get him out of the way. That was obviously the plan all along and the politics gave them an excuse. They still haven’t succeeded like they should have though in VR, which is a nice redemption. I am glad that Palmer is using his talent in other areas that will change the world. I am also glad that Facebook still lags behind and is now wasting extensive resources trying to innovate in the metaverse world. They will certainly fail.

The Texas Rangers came to life in 1823, when Texas was still part of Mexico. Nearly 200 years later, the Rangers are still going - one of the most famous of all law enforcement agencies. In Cult of Glory, Doug J. Swanson has written a sweeping account of the Rangers that chronicles their epic, daring escapades while showing how the white and propertied power structures of Texas used them as enforcers, protectors, and officially sanctioned killers.

Excellent Narratives and Persoectives
Revisado: 05-05-21
The author did a great job in the narratives about a wide variety of individuals, highlighting their lives before and after the struggle. Many perspectives were very well written, on topics that most so called historians distort with their own twisted and glorifying opinions. A great read for those who want to hear the truth about many topics that you won’t read in other writings, even on the same subject.

Mixed Ideas
Revisado: 10-21-20
Writing about the future with any substantiation takes a lot of courage and research. This book contains a large number of topics with varying levels of credibility. About 50% of the ideas were really interesting and compelling. About 40% of the ideas were completely off base and seemed to be driven more by opinions than facts. About 10% of the ideas were so bad that they were actually really funny. That was a bonus because I actually laughed out loud several times.

Historia
If there is one belief that has united the left and the right, psychologists and philosophers, ancient thinkers and modern ones, it is the tacit assumption that humans are bad. It's a notion that drives newspaper headlines and guides the laws that shape our lives. From Machiavelli to Hobbes, Freud to Pinker, the roots of this belief have sunk deep into Western thought. Human beings, we're taught, are by nature selfish and governed primarily by self-interest.

Some Good Points and a Lot of Opinion
Revisado: 08-17-20
The author made a few good points about human nature with some scientific studies that were interesting. The author also made a lot of opinions. Perhaps there should be a follow up on the results of the feel good law enforcement tactics. South Africa is a disaster and the criminals are out of control in the United States. Escalations from broken glass to violent crime occurred as expected.

Good Cyber War History Lesson
Revisado: 11-22-18
Good history lesson on cyber warfare and major events. The author seems very knowledgeable and seems like he was a good soldier in the legal battle for justice in a very strange and complex criminal underworld. The previous leadership of the intelligence community and the administration, who were quoted often in this book, failed the American people. Knowing and not taking action is sometimes the worst corruption of all. Using the people’s intelligence for political purposes instead of true justice was described perfectly in this book. Hopefully, the truth of this whole team will be revealed in due time.
