This book pulls no punches. It also has some really accurate and interesting hard scifi. Not to mention awesome ideas like cloning tech, and using it to bring back dinosaurs, pharohs, and supposedly, jesus, and the buddah. The last two are main characters even.
All sorts of awesome stuff.

America is under attack. Its institutions and values are under daily assault. But the principal culprits are not foreign terrorists. They are influential and powerful Americans secretly stirring up disunion and disloyalty in the shifting shadows of the Democratic Party. Radical infiltrators have been quietly transforming America's societal, cultural, and political institutions for more than a generation. Now, backed by George Soros, they are ready to make their move.

very interesting strategies
Revisado: 04-22-23
this book details some of the strategies soros and others use to control politics. for example setting up campaign donation middle men orgs that have no donation limits while getting mccain to pass a bill that limits everyone elses donations so they are forced to go through the soros network.

In The Dorito Effect, Mark Schatzker shows us how our approach to the nation's number-one public health crisis has gotten it wrong. The epidemics of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes are not tied to the overabundance of fat or carbs. Instead we have been led astray by the growing divide between flavor - the tastes we crave - and the underlying nutrition.

Historia
In the United States, teenagers can focus on one task for only sixty-five seconds at a time, and office workers average only three minutes. Like so many of us, Johann Hari was finding that constantly switching from device to device and tab to tab was a diminishing and depressing way to live. He tried all sorts of self-help solutions—even abandoning his phone for three months—but nothing seemed to work. So Hari went on an epic journey across the world to interview the leading experts on human attention—and he discovered that everything we think we know about this crisis is wrong.

Important but overly political
Revisado: 02-19-22
Important book on how our attention is ruined. But the constant lowkey political hammering is super distracting and obnoxious. Every negative example is always a rightwing one, every positive example is always a left wing one. Even though for example the left is against school choice and alternative schooling when the book complains about how broken our school system is. The constant climate change narrative is also annoying and ridiculous compared to how little climate change actually affects the world, its like "inconvenient truth" all over again as if new york will be underwater by 2020. Seriously the entire first half of the book is about big tech which is VEHEMENTLY anti right wing and has banned and censored even people like Joe Rogan, who the author has been on and is the only reason I even know of him. Instead of bringing thay up he ONLY brings up negative examples.
But other than that it brings up important topics such as:
ADHD and how its largely due to our HORRIBLE schooling system, diet, and children lacking time for play and intrinsic goals.
The corrupt pharmaceutical and psychiatrist industry.
How our diet is also filled with toxins that are banned by other countries.
And of course the algorithms that big tech are using to mess with our minds.
He also wants clearly too far approaches like BANNING ALL PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION SYSTEMS. This is just absurd, I only found most of what I love now thanks to recommendation systems, including the authors podcast appearances. But in general some of the other things he advocated for are reasonable like less work hours (most ppl r on their phones and shit half the day anyway).

Way better than first Dune book
Revisado: 11-19-21
The first book had "action" but this book is way better. Its short and has very good pace. Every line feels meaningful in a deep way. Like each sentence tells some deep truth about life and the universe.
The conversations are amazing. Its like the greatest people of history, Newton, Einstein, Nitzche, Confusious, Buddha are talking to each other all over a plot to overthrow the greatest emperor.

Easy to read and very deep
Revisado: 11-07-21
People like to say this book is dry or hard to read but I just don't think that is the case whatsoever. There is drama, love triangles, ridiculous characters, and even crime :O. Yet its also a deeply philosophical book as well.

Historia
John Milton's Paradise Lost is one of the greatest epic poems in the English language. It tells the story of the Fall of Man, a tale of immense drama and excitement, of rebellion and treachery, of innocence pitted against corruption, in which God and Satan fight a bitter battle for control of mankind's destiny.

Long winded
Revisado: 07-31-21
Overall its the story of adam and eve. The issue is while the writing is very vivid it slows down the pacing tremendously and is difficult to understand. Passive voice is used throughout and sentences are structured in a way that makes them needlessly annoying. Its a translated poem so I guess that's why.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Way too long, extremely overrated
Revisado: 07-05-21
There are an infinite number of classic books to read. Not to mention alternative media like comics. This book has the audacity to be several times the length of a typical book but covers a tiny fraction of story. The pacing is atrocious. And after all those words we only get a meer introduction to the world, the characters and the drama. Worst pacing Ive ever read in a book. I recommend just reading synopsis of the books, its just not worth it. The story isn't unique or anything and is filled with common tropes throughout. It doesn't really "feel" real, I don't think the author has experienced anything exciting in his life to base the book off of. Its feels like someone just writing a book based on what he thinks books should be like instead of using his own life experiences.
