Historia
Meet Randi Burnett—she’s brilliant, she’s beautiful, and she works for the bride. Missing groom? Intoxicated in-laws? Crying ring-bearer? You name it, she wrangles it. Too bad her personal life isn’t thriving like her side gig as a bridesmaid for hire. Recently dumped, Randi throws herself into her biggest challenge yet when she’s hired as a maid of honor and pretend best friend for an ice queen bride. There’s just one problem—the best man is infuriating, overprotective, and anti-marriage.

awful people
Revisado: 03-10-25
it's hard to care about the main characters living happily ever after when they are miserable, self absorbed humans beings. Female narrator was whiny and grating but in her defense she had that kind of character to read for so I'm not sure it was entirely her fault. I guess if nothing else you can cheer them in just so the rest of the world doesn't have to deal with them.

Historia
The McCready Family Funeral Home and Bait Shop has crickets running rampant in the store and hot sauce in the Snack Shack's ketchup bottles. But as the county coroner, Frankie has enough on her plate without worrying about the increasingly mean pranks being played at her family's business. And the arrival of Sheriff Eric Linden, both devastatingly attractive and painfully taciturn, is enough to push her over the edge.

Don't gouge
Revisado: 03-02-25
I'm not sure if this is on the publisher or on audible, but it's really annoying when a book is split into parts just to get more money out of the reader. This really needed to be part of the next book. Nothing about this book helps it to stand on its own. That said, Amanda Ronconi's narration was great as usual. I believe she has narrated every single one of Molly Harper's books that I have read, and it's a good pairing.

Another gem in the free catalog
Revisado: 03-02-25
The story was well developed, and so were the characters. entertaining dialogue, overall very enjoyable to read. both narrators did a great job, particularly the male narrator. I'm glad this was offered as a free book in the catalog because I have found a new author I otherwise had not heard of. I will definitely be reading more of her books in the future now that I am familiar with her.

Nils Shapiro accepts what appears to be an easy, lucrative job: find out if Beverly Mayer’s grandson is foolishly throwing away his trust fund in Hollywood, especially now, in the wake of his fiancée’s tragic death. However, that easy job becomes much more complicated once Nils arrives in Los Angeles, a disorienting place where the sunshine hides dark secrets. Nils quickly suspects that Ebben Mayer’s fiancée was murdered and that Ebben himself may have been the target.

perfect combination of author and narrator
Revisado: 02-14-25
I thoroughly enjoyed this whole series of books. so much so that I hated to finish the last one and really hope that the author will continue with this character in the future. what really puts this last book over the top is the narration. I listen to a lot of audiobooks and there are only a handful of narrators that I feel really enhanced the books that they read to the point that I would seek out other books that they narrate without being familiar with the authors. Bronson Pinchot really was phenomenal in narrating this book. The wide range of voices and accents he used to differentiate the characters was great and he really brought out the funny parts of the book.

I put my foster father behind bars. It doesn't matter that he deserved it. What matters is that he's powerful, manipulative, and now, he wants me dead. I can feel someone watching me. I know my time is running out. The only other person who cares if I live or die is a masked stranger. So I'm putting my life in the vigilante's hands - and maybe a piece of my heart along with it. Even though I'm worried that he's just as dangerous as the man I sent to prison.

I don't mind suspending reality a bit for a good story, but the mental gymnastics I had to do to be engaged with this was too much. I usually prefer longer books to short stories but in this case more is not better. It seems to be a neverending stream of consciousness; most of the book is full of her rambling musings. I don't want to be in this girl's head. She is pathologically indecisive and illogical. On the rare occasion she does eventually make a decision after mulling over for chapters, that decision makes absolutely no sense. The book wants to make a point about how strong she supposedly is but offers absolutely no evidence to this as the FMC possesses very few traits one would expect to see in a survivor of supposedly extreme trauma. Won't be wasting more credits or cash to see how this story resolves itself.

Being 40 is supposed to be freaking fabulous, not fatal. Taking on a daunting new job minus the description isn’t the smartest move I’ve ever made, even if it was to save a friend. Hopefully, it doesn’t turn out to be the stupidest...or deadliest. Why can’t things stay the way they were? I love my old job. Supergluing ghosts back together and solving their issues is its own reward. Not to mention, I’m seriously good at it. Although, I must say, I’m ridiculously excited for the new Death Counselor’s arrival in nine months....

would be five stars, but...
Revisado: 01-06-25
Terrific story...I mean, really great. Narrator is AMAZING and really brings the book to life and delivers the dialogue better than I would have ever anticipated.
But...
I am enjoying these books enough that I'm paying for them so I don't have to wait for credits.. They're shorter already than many books comparable in price. But then you go and waste 20 minutes of the new books repeating the last chapter of the old book I just listened to. I get you're ending in a cliffhanger but that's too much. And now a big part of the last half is repeating as well (trying not to spoil anything as to why but it's not a good enough reason).
It's starting to feel like the readers are being milked for as many credits/purchases as possible. That's really too bad because I'd love to not only finish this series but check out the others by this author but if this happens again with the next book I will be out. The next few are even shorter and I'm not paying for the same story twice again.

This narrator really detracted from the book. Ifd inflections almost like AI. Book itself was good, I really like the whole series.

Historia
Joey Green has returned to Beaufort, South Carolina, with its palmettos and shrimp boats, to look after his ailing father, who is succumbing to dementia, while his overstressed mother takes a break. Marshall Green’s short-term memory has all but evaporated, but his oldest memories are more vivid than ever. His mind keeps slipping backward in time, retreating into growing up in Beaufort as a boy. At first, this seems like a blessing of sorts, but Joey grows increasingly anxious as his father’s hallucinatory arguments with figures from his youth begin to hint at deadly secrets.

really impressed with this author
Revisado: 12-16-24
I read all the Nils Shapiro books and a couple of Goldman's stand-alone books. Every one of them has been good. This is what I love most about audible, discovering authors I may not otherwise ever read. This book, I think, has been the best so far. I think the author did a great job of portraying the struggle of living with someone with memory issues, it was poignant without being overly sentimental. there were some twists I didn't see coming and the mystery surrounding the story was interesting. engaging characters. Good narration. All together very enjoyable!

lazy writing
Revisado: 10-31-24
I like series books. It's nice to see different characters develop out of the same story of over time. However, this is probably one of the worst I have ever read. The main reason is she's covering the same timeline as the first book from the perspective of different people in this second book. usually that would be a good thing but in this case every interaction in common between the main characters of the last book and this one are repeated verbatim. word. for. word. You're really only reading half of a book. everything that you read in the first book that overlaps is just copied text. It's ridiculous. It leaves me feeling like the author didn't like the characters of her own book enough to develop a different story for them or she was so rushed to finish it she couldn't be bothered. I struggled to finish it because I got tired of all the repetition.

struggled to finish
Revisado: 10-04-24
The story was very good and imaginative. The narration was just very off-putting. I can't even completely articulate why. some of the voices the narrator assigned were grating and other times there was no variation whatsoever and you would kind of lose who was speaking. overall, the narration was stilted and I found that my mind would wander even though the story itself was good.
