Excellent

I really enjoyed this book. I am originally from Ga. and getting to listen to this narrator made me feel I was right back in the heart of the south. She did a fantastic job with making each character have his or her unique voice.
The story was entriging as well. It made you really feel as if you were there, present with the characters in the book in the woods digging up a grave, or in the room watching the abusive husband beat his wife.
She was perfectly detailed, shedding light on topics that aren't often written about but not going over board to the point of bordom.
I really enjoyed it alot!

Historia
Why we think it’s a great listen: Never before has an author’s narration of his fiction been so important to fully grasping the book’s impact and global implications. Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them.

I LOVED IT!!!
It took some consentration to follow along in the begining, All the names and places sounded alike to me at first but a few chapters into it I was HOOKED!
It took me into a whole new world. It really gives you a reality check that there are other places that exist in this world than America with a Wal-mart and Mc Donalds on every corner. It made me want to go vist Kabul and it gave me a reality check that the imigrants that we have living and working in our country may have been really humbled in order to come here. They may have been big wigs in their country and now are forced to work at a seven eleven. I guess it gave me a sense of compassion for those that I interact with that aren't born and raised american.
I also really liked (unike a reviewer below) that the main character was selfish. So many of us are. He did what he did and and I think it was a great portrayal of reality. Not everyone gets that enlightened moment...the I should do this for someone else not for me (feel good)moment that we like to see in movies and books.
Over all This was by far the most interesting book I have ever read (listened to)

I love this book. I was hooked from the very first chapter! I also really enjoyed the narrator. I prefer a male narrator but was pleasantly surprised. She did a great Job!

Greatly Disappointed
Revisado: 03-27-06
Ted Dekker was recomended to me last year. I began with his trilogy and fell in love with his writing style. I have listend to all of his his books available on audible since then. Thr3e was my favorite. Obsessed was pretty good but not great. So natuarally I was excited about listening to showdown and boy was I GREATLY DISSAPOINTED! It is boring and not well written and the narrator is the most boring I have come across yet. If you are getting a book with a free credit, you will be dissapointed and if you actually pay for it, you will be dissapointed! Hopefully his next one will be better because I really have enjoyed all his other book!

Historia
Imagine answering your cell phone one day to a male voice that gives you three minutes to confess your sin. If you don't, the madman, Slater, will blow your car to smithereens. You barely manage to exit heavy traffic and ditch the car when, precisely three minutes later, your car blows sky high. The media and police descend on the scene; your world has just changed forever.

I loved this book! I could not stop listen to it! It was a GREAT listen from begining to end. The narator I loved. He had different voices for each character! THe end will throw you for a loop!!! I love the way Ted writes with open-ended questions that pulls you through the book!!!
AWESOME!!
