Historia
Panama, 1989. The once warm relationship between United States and Gen. Manuel Noriega has eroded dangerously. Newly elected President George Bush has declared the strongman a drug trafficker and a rigger of elections. Intimidation on the streets is a daily reality for U.S. personnel and their families. The nation is a powder keg. Naval Investigative Service (NIS) Special Agent Rick Yell has worked the job in Panama since 1986, and lives there with his wife Annya and infant child. Like most NIS agents, he’s a civilian with no military rank with a specialty in working criminal cases.

Great Story that many Americans have forgotten
Revisado: 12-12-24
First off great story, well written and narrated! I was a young airman stationed at Howard Air Force Base during this time. The entire story rings, true and fills in a few gaps for why we did the things we did. I was there more than a year before, and after the invasion. For those who question why we invaded I can only say that now almost 35 years later, Panama still has a booming economy, free and fair elections, and the canal has not only been expanded, but maintained for the world’s commerce to sail through. The relative success of Operation Just Cause facilitated a quick and decisive Gulf War response. I had the opportunity to return to serve in Panama just a few short years after the invasion and I was so surprised and happy to find that the Panamanian people had recovered after the invasion and the places that were unsafe when I left in 1990 were safe for Americans as well as Panamanians. Thank you to all of the people highlighted in this story for for your service. Your actions were transparent to those of us living and working in Panama. You are the true heroes along with the 27,000 people present to restore democracy.

Historia
At the height of the Cold War, JFK risked committing the greatest crime in human history: starting a nuclear war. Horrified by the specter of nuclear annihilation, Kennedy gradually turned away from his long-held Cold Warrior beliefs and toward a policy of lasting peace. But to the military and intelligence agencies in the United States, who were committed to winning the Cold War at any cost, Kennedy's change of heart was a direct threat to their power and influence.

Interesting fact filled book
Revisado: 06-02-23
This is packed with facts that tie up so many loose ends. Why after all the years is the CIA unwilling to admit they were complicit? Is it because what is left of our faith in the government will erode further? It is disheartening to know that our government would kill a president that was legitimately elected. Very sad…

What a terrifying experience to have lived through in Florida. It is hard to believe that in just a few counties over anyone other that white men had an easy time in life. This story saddened me as I believe that we have changed for the positive and don’t understand why Floridians ever behaved this way in the first place. We are only 2 generations removed from this story and must not go back.

Historia
The Indignities of Being a Woman candidly traces the history of womanhood and investigates how much things have really changed for womankind. By carefully x-raying areas such as body image, marriage, mental illness, fashion, and politics, this audiobook examines what it was like to be a woman in the past versus what it’s like now, when women are constantly told equality between the sexes exists but reality proves otherwise.

Funny and Informative
Revisado: 04-02-23
I was a little worried reading the reviews from other people but the language wasn’t awful and appropriately funny. I didn’t love that they think all of the US problems were because Trump got elected but to be fair it came out just as he got elected and we have no idea how he would-as well it was before COVID which caused our whole world to shut down. I would like to hear a chapter on the Row v. Wade decision. In 2016 no one ever thought that would go away… still in shock. Overall, great book and glad I listened!

Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

Historia
This is a story that starts off close and goes very big. The initial part of the story might sound familiar at first: it is about a platoon of mostly 19-year-old boys sent to Afghanistan, and an experience that ends abruptly in catastrophe. Their part of the story folds into the next: inexorably linked to those soldiers and never comprehensively reported before is the US Department of Defense’s quest to build the world’s most powerful biometrics database, with the ability to identify, monitor, catalog, and police people all over the world.

The book was compelling, and very interesting with the end of it, finally gripping me. I endured the first few chapters, the readers voice is so smooth it almost sounds automated. As a retired Army officer, it does make me pause, and pray that our nation uses this information for the right reasons.

Historia
Up from Slavery is the 1901 autobiography of Booker T. Washington detailing his slow and steady rise from a slave child during the Civil War, to the difficulties and obstacles he overcame to get an education at the new Hampton University, to his work establishing vocational schools - most notably the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama - to help Black people and other disadvantaged minorities learn useful, marketable skills and work to pull themselves, as a race, up by the bootstraps.

UnderstAnding our history
Revisado: 04-29-21
I listened to this book on the recommendation of COL West. There are so many lessons in this autobiography that one must listen two or three times to grasp them all. All Americans should read this book and it should be required reading in high school. Mr. Washington’s journey is to be emulated among our citizens today. Learning from his teaching could bring peace in this time of racial strife in America.

Historia
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

Gave me Goosebumps!
Revisado: 10-06-20
Wow! An excellent book from a well-educated young woman who will be the future of the Republican Party! Ms. Owens blends history, her own experiences and common sense to put forth a reasonable explanation for why Americans, and in particular black Americans need to consider who they vote for even more now than ever. This was enjoyable to listen to and gave me goosebumps as her words resonated in my soul. Thank you and Godspeed!
