The twist!
Revisado: 09-27-24
As always, it was nearly impossible to guess what the twist at the end would be. Narration wasn't quite as good as previous stories, but I could still listen to this man all day long.
Overall, I would buy it again.

Good twist.
Revisado: 06-17-24
Well developed characters, well written overall and had a good twist.
The narration leaves something to be desired, though. I felt like she was shouting the whole time and sometimes the tone didn't match what was being said, but the woman was trying...

Credit well spent, per usual.

The narration is fantastic as always. Great book overall, only thing that was a bit irritating was the quote at the beginning of each chapter, and I cannot quite say why.

Okay storyline; Narration is lacking.
Revisado: 04-16-24
I found myself having to rewind and listen again multiple times. I was expecting a much better narration than what was provided. He sounded bored the whole time, very little changes in pitch or attempts at voices. The lack of voice differentiation made it difficult to know who was speaking in places.
I'm not sure that I would listen to this version again. I love James Patterson's writing and the twist was great, but the half-hearted narration drastically undercut the story.

good!
Revisado: 01-24-24
Though this isn't in my typical reading genre, I genuinely enjoyed this book. It started a bit slow to me, though that may have been a slight reluctance to listen, but picked up rather quickly. The characters were well developed and the storyline was creative. I would definitely listen again and already started book #2!

Imaginative
Revisado: 01-24-24
I am typically more of a psychological mystery reader, but am glad I gave this a try. The story is well written and very Imaginative. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it's predecessor. Can't wait for another credit to read the third!

Storyline is pretty danged good.
Revisado: 01-17-24
I love the way the story developed, however the narration did not do it justice. I honestly considered making the time to read the actual book instead of listening to this, more than once.
For instance, modeling was pronounced mode-eling (think yodeling), along with several other butchered words. It made it difficult to follow along sometimes. I also had a hard time listening as the drab tone made me zone out and I had to rewind every 20 minutes or so.

Historia
A deafening explosion rocks a historic Oklahoma City hotel, sending archaeologist Faye Longchamp-Mantooth crashing to the lobby floor. Faye's in town for a conference celebrating indigenous arts but is soon distracted by the aftermath of the explosion, which cracks open the hotel’s floor to reveal subterranean chambers that had housed Chinese immigrants a century before. Faye's fascinated by the tunnels, which are a time capsule back to the early 20th century - but when the bodies of three children are discovered deep beneath the city, her sense of discovery turns to one of dread.

Revisado: 11-18-23
I gutted through books 1 & 2, got to chapter 4 in book 3 and cannot listen anymore.
I want these books to be better than they are, I think. I also have a very real *need* to finish a series, even if I'm not a fan, which is why I made it past book 1. ...and, despite that, I physically cannot make myself listen to these books any longer.
Author has decent ideas for storyline, but the execution is awful and the narrators do not really help matters.
I honestly cannot figure out why these have a decent rating.
