I started listening to this book on a recommendation from someone in a Facebook group I’m in. This is what I will compare all my books to going forward. I loved every bit of it.

This is one of those professional development books that I will actually refer back to often. I have notes for my Founder (my CEO) although I hope I can get her to read it as well! I have the Audible, hard cover, AND Kindle versions. Book for bedtime, audio for drive time, and Kindle for wait times.

I was a tad hesitant to “read” this because I’ve been in a years long psychological thriller-a-thon but I am glad I took the chance. In the beginning it was hard to remember who was who because the narrator didn’t change anything about her voice. I’m not saying she wasn’t great, because she was. I’d listen to her again. It’s just with three different women speaking, it was difficult for the first several chapters.
I would suggest this author and narrator to anyone!

I adore Kristin Hannah. There was a point in the book where I looked at the time and I still had 9 hours to go and I thought that it was going to take forever to get to the end. And then 2 minutes later I was listening to the epilogue. I wanted more! Get out your tissues. If you are a follower of Kristin you’ll have the tissues before you even start!

Top 5 of all time!

This is absolutely worth a credit or the $5.00 sale price it is right now. I saw it on sale and shared with some friends because it has been on my top 5 list since 2008. I was curious to read reviews and saw several negative comments. I wasn’t surprised, there are always those that are extremely picky and expect books to be exactly how they want it.

Do not let the negative reviews stop you from buying this book!!!! This is why I usually don’t read reviews before I buy a book. If it sounds interesting to you at all, buy it! Everyone’s taste is different! I loved it and was thrilled when she came out with a sequel! I love Kristin Hannah, I have many of her books. There are some that I didn’t care for but that did not stop me from buying others.

I probably have written less than a handful of reviews in the 11 years I’ve been with Audible. I felt that this book deserved another five star review. Check it out.

Read (listen) when you have time!

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book. My only reason for purchasing was because Jennifer Ikeda is the narrator. I absolutely love her and The Discovery of Witches trilogy so I just went for it. I am all about witches and vampires and dystopian novels but something about Fairies just does not interest me. But I am glad I did!

I struggled with the first few chapters but after that I could not stop! I stayed up way past bedtime and was even late for work one day because I was listening to it in the parking lot. I was at a part that I just could not turn off!

Love it, love Jennifer Ikeda and am looking forward to the next in the series.

I love Jennifer Ikeda’s narration. Her different ways to portray each character and different accents. She’s amazing! Of course, I love the story.

Robot narrator?

Would you try another book from Jane Austen and/or Victoria McGee?

Jane Austen, yes; Victoria McGee, absolutely not. I'm sure she's a wonderful person but this narration is painful.

Has Sense and Sensibility turned you off from other books in this genre?

I did not get a chance to get through the first chapter. I do plan to try another Jane Austen novel.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator literally sounds like a robot.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Sense and Sensibility?

Didn't get through first chapter so I cannot answer that.

I have hundreds of books from audible. I don't recall ever leaving a review. I've had horrible narrators and amazing narrators, but none that made me passionate enough to leave a review. THIS version of Sense & Sensibility was awful. Actually sounded like a robot. After 200 audiobooks I have learned my lesson. ALWAYS listen to a sample prior to purchase. I apologize for the low rating on the story, I'm sure it's amazing - it is a classic after all. But the narrator ruined the whole experience.

I couldn't stop listening. I was listening at work! LOVE the narrator! His voice is amazing. Definitely would listen to anything he reads and hope for more from Caroline Kepnes.
