Historia
Despite his usual clientele of gamers, Ben is barely earning enough to keep the store running and stay on top of his father's medical bills. Then a local toy and game collector named Clive offers him a winning strategy—to purchase a turn-of-the-twentieth-century edition of The Landlord's Game, the realty and taxation game that inspired Monopoly, at a tenth of the rare edition's true value. Suspicious of Clive's shady, low-priced deal, Ben turns the offer down.

Nice start to a potential series
Revisado: 09-13-24
This was a nice start and there are a lot of good side characters that will help as the series grows. I was very impressed about the way the author handled the difficultly with ailing parents. I am looking forward to more.

Good mystery with better character story
Revisado: 08-14-24
I really enjoyed this and then Richard Osman took on aging. His handling of the last time we do things was almost too correct for me after dealing with things with an aging parent. Best therapy I have had. Listen to the book and enjoy the mystery but be moved by the characters,

I've owned this for a while and just got around to it. I'm impressed. I actually care about the characters and enjoyed the growth in the book. Kate Rudd did a great job reding the book.

Historia
Safely away from the chaos of Manhattan, St. Thomas, a small college on the banks of the Hudson River, is supposed to be tranquil, bucolic, and serene. Unfortunately, English professor Alison Bergeron has found it to be anything but. Recently divorced and even more recently without a car - it was stolen - she has been hoofing it to school. One Friday evening, two homicide detectives drop by her office. The good news is that they found her beat-up Volvo; the bad news is that the body of one of her students was in the trunk.

Interesting start to a series needs to decide what
Revisado: 04-07-21
Murder 101 could have been a very nice cozy mystery. It just kept switching gears to a romance and a bit of a rom com. Two many characters seemed to be cameos that never really explained their existence. I'm glad it was a plus title. If the next one joins the plus catalogue I might even try it. There are signs of a good book in there.

Excellent book. Great narration
Revisado: 03-02-21
This tells the amazing story of the heroism at Leyte Gulf. This is one of the lesser known battles and maybe should be one of the better known ones. The American Navy fought against all odds and turned the Japanese back. I feel as if I should have grown up knowing Ernest E. Evans and other hero's from this fight. I'm glad to finally know their story. Barrett Whitener's narration was excellent. James D. Hornfischer writing and research also excellent. This did not seem like a 16 hour book.

Revisado: 10-11-20
Almost a total 5 star book. I really enjoyed this and maybe because the author read the book it did have the sense of traveling with him. I bought this on a whim and I am happy I did. I enjoyed the travel and the history of the apostles. This doesn't have many answers people are looking for but a good place to start.

Very nice series
Revisado: 01-24-20
I know I bought the first one for the price and I have to say I really enjoyed this. Matthew Costello, Neil Richards work very well as a team and the characters actually seem like real people. The 3 stories are broken up nicely, the characters have changes away from the books so each story has some fresh history to fill in. Even the smaller characters have growth. The mysteries are nice but not too easy. All in all a good read. I just started books 4-6 now.

A nice mystery with a side of Scottish history
Revisado: 11-23-18
I kind of picked this series up by a whim and each story has grown in history and mystery, I like that the main character, Delaney Nichols, does depend on others. I enjoyed the Burke and Hare stories and the best compliment I can give is I know want to know more.
There was a narrator change this book. and I enjoyed Susan Boyce doing the voices this time.

Historia
Everything I’d known about the world was a lie. On my thirteenth birthday, I, Alcatraz Smedry (yes, I got named after a prison, don’t ask), received my inheritance: a bag of sand. And then I accidentally destroyed my foster parents’ kitchen. It’s not my fault, things just break around me, I swear! I thought the sand was a joke until evil Librarians came to steal it. You’re probably thinking, “Librarians are nice people who recommend good books,” but that’s just what they want you to think!

Not just a kids book. Funny and subersive
Revisado: 03-19-17
Where does Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I've listened to a lot of books and I think this is in the top 10%.
What did you like best about this story?
I like that there is humor in here for adults and kids. The story actually can make you think.
What does Ramon De Ocampo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Ramon De Ocampo brings great voices to this story. I don't know that I would have voiced Bastille and Alcatraz in my head like he does and it really helped me visualize the small but important interactions like the eye rolls.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
A not so nice guy saves the world
Any additional comments?
This really caught me off guard. I will look at other Brandon Sanderson and finish this series.
