Unique and Succinct
Revisado: 01-25-25
I was recommended this book and decided to give it a go. I loved it! The way it’s written is unique and compelling. I found myself disappointed that it was over… I like that they wrapped everything up well, though. Surprising themes of sexuality and communistic views. I will come back to reread the book in about 10 years when I’ve forgotten the gritty details.

Beautiful Story of Childhood and Womanhood
Revisado: 01-21-25
I came for the historical curiosity, and stayed for the moving tale of friendship, growing up, and the struggles of women that can be felt through the beginning of time. I ended up crying my eyes out. I had a friendship like these girls. And it ended like these women. It hit too hard, but also healed my broken heart. I am so impressed with the storytelling and the way everything was set up. Plus the narrator was FANTASTIC. She played so many voices so well. 10/10. I am recommending this book to all women. Women who’s heart aches for love, friendship, and wisdom. Thank you Lisa See, and thank you Snow Flower.

Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Beautifully detailed book that opened my eyes to a part of history I usually feel like skipping over. WWII is not one of my favorite time periods to transport myself to, but this book made me a fly on the wall who couldn’t get enough. I was so sad when the book ended. The narration was done well in my opinion. I loved the details and intricate mapping of the setting. I could put myself in the book whenever I read it. I will be revisiting this book in the future for sure, and have my children read it when they are able to. This book is in my top 10 of all time.

Historia
The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore ( Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving.

Simple, Succinct, and Fun

I was skeptical going in as I’m in between my “serious reads” and wanted a shorter book as a filler. I ended up really loving it! The twists and every chapter were great and it was wrapped up nicely. Would recommend.
