Historia
In his number-one best seller The Perfect Storm, Sebastian Junger describes Linda Greenlaw as "one of the best sea captains, period, on the East Coast." Now Greenlaw tells her own riveting story of a 30 day swordfishing voyage aboard one of the best-outfitted boats on the East Coast, complete with danger, humor, and characters so colorful they seem to have been ripped from the pages of Moby Dick. The excitement starts immediately, even before Greenlaw and her five-man crew leave the dock.

Historia
In a gay nightclub in Orlando on June 12, 2016, the shooter, Omar Mateen, murdered 49 people and wounded 53 others. The attack was the deadliest act of violence against the LGBTQ+ community in US history and the deadliest terrorist attack in the United States since 9/11. But there’s a story you haven’t heard. The FBI had a secret history with the shooter and his father. To obscure that history, the FBI pushed a false story that the media dutifully carried—that the attacker was a secretly gay Islamist extremist who had chosen to target Pulse and planned the attack for weeks.

Victimizing victims by pushing liberal ideology.
Revisado: 08-08-24
I was so excited to see a book on a subject that holds a big spot in my heart. As a gay person who has endured violence I was interested to see what the “truth” was. Within the first 10 minutes I realized this was going to be a propaganda book designed to push yet another theory down our throats. If you love any of these narratives in the list that follows then by all means listen to this book: Every Muslim character is of course a victim or mentally challenged, gays are dumb and deceived because they listened to the recording of Omar claiming to be fighting for Islam falling for the false narrative, people who believe gun ownership can stop shooters are just wrong, Trump being mentioned for no reason but to be implicated some how for a Muslim being arrested even though he was not in office, and cops are unnecessarily brutal. It’s disturbing to me to see a book like this being used as a tool to push so much strange agenda. Heartbreaking really and a big disrespect to the gay community.

Historia
"My father had more than 50 children." So begins the haunting memoir of Anna LeBaron, daughter of the notorious polygamist and murderer Ervil LeBaron. With her father wanted by the FBI for killing anyone who tried to leave his cult - a radical branch of Mormonism - Anna and her siblings were constantly on the run with the other sister-wives. Often starving and always desperate, the children lived in terror. Even though there were dozens of them together, Anna always felt alone.

Every human should read this book.
Revisado: 02-19-23
As a first generation American I feel very lucky and blessed to live in this wonderful country. I too, when in college, could not believe the utter nonsense my fellow students and I were constantly forced to hear. My father taught me that if you work hard you can be anything in America. He never once said anything about me being a woman or Hispanic or gay or fat as a reason for me not to succeed. With much hard work I own my own business so I know this to be true. All my freind who family have been in America for many generations have somehow become complacent complainers and will try to insult me by saying things like “it must be nice” about the success I have achieved. This book really puts into perspective many of the same problems I have run into with todays “woke” antics. It’s funny how all the new people are always the biggest cheerleaders. I hope I get to meet Yeonmi Park one day just to say thank you for loving and caring about this country as much as I do. The narrator also did a wonderful job. Very emotive and confident voice.

Heartfelt beacon of Love
Revisado: 02-06-23
I enjoyed this books want to teach the true meaning of love and the gifts that come with it. You can always tell a lot about a person on how they choose to live their life. She could have been a bitter and ugly person with all her tragic life events but chose to find happiness instead. It was a fun mix of poems and challenges. I think many people will find comfort if they choose to try some of her tips. Heather Duffy’s epilogue was also poignant. I’m happy Anne had the last say of her life intentions in this book, and that she had a freind who knew her for who she was.

This book made me laugh cry and feel inspired
Revisado: 01-01-23
This book is both funny and informative. Very good flow with cultural references and scriptural renditions. I enjoy the honesty in this book. Iron sharpens iron. I too love Jesus and am thankful for all the gifts I feel He sends me. Even though I am single I never feel alone and always feel His love. I truly believe everyone can garnish a gem from this book. Great job Yvonne and God bless you.

Tiffany can't avoid being funny: it's just who she is. But The Last Black Unicorn is so much more than a side-splittingly hilarious collection of essays - it's a memoir of the struggles of one woman who came from nothing and nowhere. A woman who was able to achieve her dreams by reveling in her pain and awkwardness, showing the world who she really is, and inspiring others through the power of laughter.

This book made me laugh so hard. Even when she was straight up talking about horrible things she made me laugh. I truly wish one day to meet her and thank her for writing such an authentic book. I’m amazed she keeps making jokes even though she has been through so much. I hope In the next book she writes about shark week. I bet there are stories from that! Get this book. You will not regret it.
