Consistently, ridiculously good
Revisado: 04-03-25
AFK is demonstrating his ability to write like a master. The 11th installment of the Divine apostasy series is packed with so much lore and complexity that I had to listen to it twice. Excellent continuation of the series.

Read 6 times, 1st Listen...Still All-World
Revisado: 04-02-25
I have read the entire series at least six times through the years. After growing weary of reading much of the high quality modern Indie science, fantasy, and lit RPG fiction, I decided to Circle back and listen to Jordan's works.
They are clearly more traditionally written and published, and therefore pace themselves much more slowly. Regardless, they remain world-class fiction.
Listening to the Eye of the World brought an increased depth of perspective on nearly everything.
Highly recommended.

Greatest installment to date! Great writing, "real" dialogue, and superb narration. I will have to read volume 7 immediately rather than wait for Travis.

Brilliant!
Revisado: 03-13-24
You do not disappoint, AFK. I loved everything about this volume.
Potentially the first novel of this genre that proved so "technical" that I had to listen to a few chapters multiple times. That is a very good thing!
Furthermore, Travis B. was as brilliant as always. He has few peers. This limits our audible options.
Finally, I have to admit, unfortunately, that genius takes time. September-level patience will be challenging.
Again, incredibly well done. You both spoil us. Cheers!

Respect the effort; atrocious juvenile exposition
Revisado: 09-25-21
I could not finish due to the complete lack of interest in creating high quality content. It is not often that painfully poor writing renders a otherwise interesting story unreadable or unlistenable. Either disciplined self-editing or 3rd party editing are needed. If one word suffices, please stop using 10!
While significant potential exists, the author must improve their craft or obtain the necessary help to transform their creation into an entertaining AND readable product.

Little bit disappointed
Revisado: 08-29-21
The audible performance was outstanding, as usual. The story and writing, however, were very mixed and honestly surprisingly luke warm. The scenes with Nexus and the Orcs were outstanding. The scene with the imp was good. For the sake of providing direct and honest feedback, everything else was shockingly inferior to the other books, especially most of Predators, with the exception of the psychopath, Heman. This was a huge letdown.
I have also observed a direct correlation between Kong's success and his tendency to include incredibly vulgar and profane-laced metaphors and descriptions. While some may enjoy this, I sometimes think this shows a lack of authenticity and dilutes the story and quality of work. It also significantly disrupts his flow. Apologies for sounding like a stupid critic.
For the next installment, please lean towards more actual action, relationship building, and meaningful growth for the main and peripheral characters. Less emphasis on never-ending misery, agonizingly-long explanations of mechanics, and new and creative ways to use vulgarity. Not that my opinion matters much in the great scheme, but I probably won't remain a fan or customer if the last element continues to deteriorate. No judgement or offense intended. I just like to fill my mindpace with images like that between Richter and the Pixies rather than the psychopathic thoughts and experiences of degenerates like Heman.
That stuff was just evil. Pure evil. I would never recommend that to a friend, and especially a teenage reader. I have to ask Kong, what in the hell were you thinking? No one needs that filth in their memory. Thanks to all that is good I was reading and not listening during that scene in Predators. I could allow my eyes to flow over much of it. Had I been listening, that would have most likely been the end of Aleron Kong in my library.

For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.
