Should’ve had a robot read it to make it less mechanical

The narrator reads as if she means to explore the limits of boredom. And she managed to reach mine.

I’m glad at least it was short. I would have been quite frustrated if I had wasted more than 30 minutes on this. Don’t waste your time on this, if you don’t have to.

Nicely written and nicely performed. And more importantly, a wonderful way of explaining Einstein’s counterintuitive insights in a very accessible language.

A teen story turned childish by immature narrator

I tried to say all I had to say in the title. The story is fine for adolescent readers, but the narrator takes it even below that with her immature interpretation of characters, their emotions and their expressions. So if you're looking for a serious meaningful sci fi, look elsewhere. If you're looking for depth-free entertainment, you'll enjoy this, especially if you are a kid or adolescent, if you're an adult, listen at your own risk. I would certainly not have, had I known what it's like.

I had read Cixin Liu's The Three Body Problem and I had loved it, so I really wanted to read this book, but after seeing the movie "The Wandering Earth" on one of the streaming sites, I assumed that's what this book is about, and I was not interested. Recently however, a friend told me that I was wrong, that despite the names being the same, this book was not the same as that movie, so I hesitantly decided to give it a try. I am so thankful to the friend who convinced me to read it! So many gems from The Three Body Problem reappear here in different guises and different contexts which along with his unique philosophical depth make the stories in this book unmistakably Cixin Liu, and the book a wonderful Cixin Liu collection. If you liked The Three Body Problem, you will enjoy this as well; and if you enjoyed this book, you will love The Three Body Problem.

Screw Audible

For not even letting me return this junk. I read The Three Body Problem, and when I searched for sci fi that would come close to that trilogy, some suggested A Fire Upon the Deep. I'm afraid this is a joke in front of that great book. But I know a lot of people like this type of junk, so I don't want to antagonize anybody. But the real reason I've come here to write a review is that Audible does not even let me return it, even though I have not even made it past chapter 8 yet. Terrible customer service to not be able to return a book that is not to one's taste.

This is a book of ramblings, wild and wide ramblings, all over place and time. Makes for some interesting scholarly entertainment, if that's what you're looking for, but hardly focused enough to deliver a clear and coherent message. Given the original promise of the book to present precisely that (a coherent and clear account of where the species is going), I found listening to this book to be a huge waste of my time, and I am returning the book. I feel bad down-voting and returning this book, for two reasons: because the actual topic is of great interest to me, and because of the great performance of Derek Perkins, the narrator.

Not sure how this item has all the positive reviews -definitely fooled me. Stories are very short and mostly pointless. Performance is ok, but content-wise it was really not worth even the few dollars it cost.

Would you try another book from Dennis Waskul and Michele Waskul and/or James Killavey?

When I first started listening to this audio book, I thought the problem with this book was going be the voice and the boring performance style. Since I myself am also doing research on ghosts and haunting, I forced myself to listen to the entire thing. But now, after having wasted some money and a lot of time on this book, I regret both of those, and my advice for you is not to do what I did. I have not learned hardly anything new or useful on ghosts or haunting, though I have heard a lot about the author and learned much about his fascination with himself.
