Historia
Ever since the Bommarito sisters were little girls, their mother, River, has written them a letter on pink paper when she has something especially important to impart. And this time, the message is urgent and impossible to ignore - River requires open-heart surgery, and Isabelle and her sisters are needed at home to run the family bakery and take care of their brother and ailing grandmother.

Family Drama with a Side Dish of Redemption
Revisado: 04-01-25
Cathy Lamb has crafted a gut-wrenching winner. A story of broken people in a broken family finding redemption and peace through the faith and innocence of their mentally challenged brother.
Henry's three sisters are the product of a broken marriage, an angry mother, and a delusional grandmother. They fly the nest only to find themselves held captive by the trauma they endured as children. The three, with lives in shambles, unite to help their mother through a crisis. With little patience and even, less compassion for each other, they care for their mother, for Henry who still lives at home, and for their grandmother who believes she is Amelia Earhart.
The sisters are so unlikeable at first, I wanted to hate them throughout the book, but Cathy Lamb had other plans. Through subtly and nuance, a skill hard to master, she wrapped me into each character's life until I was rooting for them to succeed. The final chapter, read while preparing the garden soil for a new season, had me crying in my mulch and steer manure. Standing to stretch and wipe my eyes, unwilling to say goodbye to my new friends, I found myself wishing for just one more chapter.
This is my first Cathy Lamb book. It will not be my last.

Historia
Raised in the wilderness by her late great-uncle, Vida is a young woman with an almost preternatural affinity for nature, especially for the wolves that also call the forested mountains home. Formed by hard experience, by love and loss, and by the prophecies of a fortuneteller, Vida just wants peace. If only nearby Kettleton County didn’t cast such a dark shadow.

Dean Never Fails
Revisado: 12-07-24
With a command of the language that I, a novelist, can only envy, Dean weaves a story of loss, of hope, and of triumph with just enough whimsy and mysticism to make every passage deceptively unpredictable.

A Jolt of Can-do Straight to the Heart
Revisado: 06-25-23
In person, William Kenower is as uplifting and encouraging as a happy title wave. In writing, he’s no different. If ever a writer loses faith, a quick jaunt into the heart of Kenower’s world will provide the needed boost.

Historia
A new beginning in charming Oceanside, Washington, is exactly what Hope Godwin needs after the death of her twin brother. There are plenty of distractions, like her cozy cottage with the slightly nosy landlords next door, and a brewing drama among her students at the local high school. Even having settled quickly into the community, Hope still feels something is still missing. That is, until her landlords convince her to volunteer at their animal shelter. There she meets Shadow, a rescue dog that everyone has given up on. But true to her name, Hope believes he’s worth saving.

A Sweet Visit in Oceanside
Revisado: 06-25-23
A Debbie Macomber book is always a treat. This story is no exception. Hope and Cade were believable characters and I enjoyed watching their relationship blossom.

Creepy Good Fun
Revisado: 06-25-23
The further adventures of Maureen and her oddball collection of paranormal investigators is a pleasure romp through the bizarre. It’s definitely not high-brow literature. It’s just fun - good, creepy, fun - and that’s all I ever ask of a story.
I hope we get more in this series.

The last time Megan saw her youngest daughter, Emma, was on the little girl’s third birthday. Now, two years later, she sees her daughter’s face in every blonde girl she passes - at the grocery store, in car windows, at the doctor’s office. She is determined to find her daughter, but her commitment borders on obsession as she finds herself following these little girls who resemble her missing daughter. Her inability to move on after Emma’s kidnapping has distanced Megan from her friends and family.
